An oil painting of a girl in her late teens hangs on the far end of the east wing of the Devgar palace, she has dark hairs that fells down her shoulders forming thick black curtains around her face, her cheeks rosy, her smile alight and her big dark eyes twinkling she is a beauty in her own measurements of gorgeousness.
The painting is an aged old one, no one seems to care from where it comes to whom it belongs, only the warm soft sunlight touches her face, and the peering in winds knows her story.
It is the story of a girl who couldn't find her true love, the story of princess Megna.
The deep darkness was thinned by the oil lamps that hang on the pillars, a soft music issued from the corners of the large hall that was decorated with flowers that had a heavenly fragrance,
Rajendra Singh paced the hall uneasily as he waited for someone, his brows linked under the wrinkles of his forehead, looking at him nobody could tell that he was the same person who two days ago was rejoicing the birth of his firstborn princess Mirnalini,
While he waited some old memory replayed in his mind, something' he kept wondering and some ideas took a shape he dared, he remembered his last conversation with his sister Megna ,tonight was her mehendi night ,thus the hall was decorated.
"He loves you" He said calmly looking at her white face with affection that a father would have for his children, and understanding that a brother showed his sister, "And he wants nothing but you"
"But I don't dada!" Megna said almost shrieking, she brought her hands together begging like a criminal about to be sentenced, "Please don't do this, please say no, please please!"
"It is not necessary for you to love him or for him to love you; the wedding would take place nevertheless" The remaining colors drained from Megna's face, "You should consider yourself to be lucky, that he loves you"
"It isn't love dada" She shrieked pulling off the bangles, they hit the floor giving out a musical cry, "It's lust!"
She took him by surprise, that he couldn't think what to say in replay, he let her continue in her anger she was saying things he never thought to hear from her,
"I can see it whenever he looks at me! It is evident in his eyes dada, and do you know what I feel? I feel…I feel like killing myself whenever he touches me!"
The sound of that slap shuttered the ruthless silence of the room, and tears poured from her eyes, for the first time in his life Rajendra Singh raised his hand on his sister, He turned to leave and she called after him,
"I'll die dada!" He stopped for a moment yet did not turn around to look at her, "I'll die! I'll die! I'll die!"
A sound of hurrying footsteps woke him up from his trance, a young man appeared out of the darkness dragging Megna along with him, even in the semi darkness the anger in his eyes and the royalty in his persona was evident, he was Megna's future husband, the crowned prince of Jaygar, Udayveer Singh.
He dragged her pass Rajendra Singh who stood there like a statue, dragged her upstairs to her room, and the guards closed the main entrance. A terrible silence followed their footsteps and for the first time in his life Rajendra Singh stood in silence, with his eyes heavy from shame and in loss of words in front of a follow royal.
Megna shook off his grip as soon as she reached her room,
"Don't you dare touch me!" She said in the top of her voice, the door banged shut behind him. She blinked nervously as he advanced towards her, looking at the rage in his eyes, she backed off,
"Stay where you are!" She said her voice shaking; he kept advancing as though she said nothing,
"What were you trying to do?" He asked coldly, as she kept backing off,
"I said stay where you are! DADA! DADA!"
"Shhh!" He pinned her to the wall, holding tightly in to her wrists as she struggled against his hold,
"Have you considered about this while running away?" He inquired politely, his eyes still burning her,
"Dada!"
"What your dada will feel when he realizes that you're gone?"
"DADA!"
"Your dada won't come Megna" he said simply, "He won't help you, you failed him" His face was so close that their noses nudged each other, he was right, she took a deep breath,
"MALA!"
"Your Mala, sheela, Kamla, whoever the others are they won't come either" His voice turned silk, "No one would help you tonight"
Her eyes filled slowly with warm tears as he kissed her on the neck,
"Please…" She muttered as there was no strength left in her to fight, "Please I love him" He pulled off at these words and stared at her blankly, her eyes were closed tears tickled down her cheeks,
"Let me go…let me…"
He released her and started at her critically,
"So you love him?"
"More than my life"
"That's why you were going to die, to prove your love to my worst ever enemy?"
She breathed deeply and nodded,
"Tonight you were going to leave your family, shatter their reputation and run away with my enemy?"
She nodded again,
He grabbed her shoulders and shook her,
"Megna don't you understand he's using you!"
"He'll never do that!" She snapped. "You won't understand our feelings, you never ever loved anyone!"
He let her go suddenly as though her skin had burned him,
"Never loved anyone" he croaked, "Why do you think I was protecting you all my life?"
"Because you…you.." She looked around for words, "You can never love! You don't have a heart!"
"Then GO!" He said and a silence followed his words, "Go to him, the man with a heart, soul, love and everything, GO!"
"Don't talk rubbish" She snapped,
"Go" He said again, "On one will stop you go"
She turned to leave,
"And please for heaven's sake, " He said in a low voice, "Leave my dreams and my heart too, let me live in peace"
She said nothing in reply, the door closed behind her.

The world was fainting away in front of her eyes, she felt frozen and numb, the pool of warm blood around her did not provide her with warmth, and her lips twitched in to a painful smile, yet a victorious smile.
"He won't come" She heard her weak voice saying, "You won't succeed he..won't come..I ..had…shattered his…heart…he won't..come…"
"Cause he will" Another voice answered, "He loves you doesn't he?"
"I thought the same about you" Her voice was saying, his laughter replied her,
"Did I ever tell you to love me?"
"No..And I didn't agree to the one who did"
"That's sad no isn't it?"
"Kill me"
"I'm sad to..." was the reply, "You were never the target, a good entertainment perhaps"
There was a gunfire that echoed through her ears, then another, and another, she forced her eyes to see in to the fainting images, a warm hand tapped her cheeks bringing her back to consciousness,
"Keep her out of it" A voice answered her fears, he was here, he was here for a girl who had turned him down, for a girl who broke his heart, for a girl to whom he was nothing,
"So Megna" That pathetic voice said, "You succeeded finally, you brought me something valuable didn't you?"
"Don't" Her lips muttered, "Udayveer leave me!"
Her head rested in his lap, he caressed he cheek the way she used to hate, "I won't"
"This place is going to explode!"
"I know"
His lips touched her forehead softly, "Forgive me" he said, "Knowing everything I couldn't stop you from felling in to this danger…"
"Leave…"
Only darkness was all she could see. Yet he was there she could feel him, the warmth of his embrace was bringing waves of sleep to her.
"This death was planned for me, and I dragged you to this.."
"No I dragged you to this"
He laughed softly, kissing her again,
"No I did"
"NO..I…" They were arguing again… "Please leave…live in peace" she said remembering his words,
"Let's die together princess" his voice was soft,
"No don't tell me…"
"Yes he did got me"
He kissed her again,
"But I did wanted to die in your arms,"
"I won't betray you ever again,"
"And I won't let you fell for someone else either…"
She kissed his hand with love for the first time,
"Next time mark me yours before anyone else does…"
"I will I promise you"
"I promise you too "
Their lips met before both fell in to the endless darkness and blinding lights…

Every love story that is left incomplete is given a second chance, a chance to gain what has been lost, a chance to tell what was left unsaid, a chance to feel things they couldn't last time, and finally a chance to fulfill the promises they made,
Stopping at Megna's story wonder for a moment that did she received a second chance?
Well many generations came to the both royal families after them, think about ones you know and answer me this, don't you know of a prince who marked a princess to be his?

This story in reality had nothing to do with Manveer I wrote it for my literature class last year but their magazine couldn't have more of my stories as they already had three,
I changed it a bit, added lines here and there to make it a Manveer art,
