I' glad you started this thread! I was pissed off watching the episode last night. There are so many things - where do I even begin?
Rati cursing Parvati? W*F? 😡 First of all, in the original story, Parvati was completely unmindful of the presence of both Kama & Rati. So Mahadev incinerating Kama was completely ignored by Parvati - what did shock her was his arising and ignoring her and leaving.
When Kama was incinerated, according to some accounts, Rati did go to Indra and either cursed, or threatened to curse him for sending her husband on such a suicidal mission. But where was the cause to curse Parvati? Parvati never approached Kama & Rati and asked them to help her disturb Mahadev's samadhi. In fact, she wasn't even trying to do it herself.
Another thing - this is more of a blooper, but illustrates the amateur aspect of the CVs really well. They show Parvati addressing Khyati and Revathi/Aditi as 'Didi', and in last night's episode, she described Daksha as her father. Are the CVs on meth? The reason Sati destroyed her body was so that she wouldn't have to describe the accursed Daksha as her father again, and in her next birth, she goes ahead and describes Daksha as her father?
Also, Khyatti and Revathi - they're treating Parvati as their sister - even though she ain't - while addressing Rati as 'Devi Rati'? For a moment, I was taken aback by why would these 2 try & stop Rati from going into the cave, but then I remembered that she, more than Parvati, is their sister. Incidentally, they showed 4 Apsaras being burnt w/ Kama-dev. This is another bakwas scene - Rati was present in the original scene according to some accounts, and Mahadev did not burn her (the 'why' would be an interesting discussion on its own). If Mahadev didn't burn Rati in the original, how can they show him burning 4 Apsaras here?
Parvati's conversation w/ Shiva was surreal - as is well known, never happened. And then she unloads all the baggage of her previous life, and everything - I was actually 'glad' that Mahadev rebuffed her and told her, essentially, to get lost. And in the original, nobody tried to meet Mahadev or convince him otherwise - not Nandi, not Vishnu, not Brahma, not Indra, nobody. But last night, when they showed them meet him and admit how they had sent Kamadev to disturb him, I was disappointed that Shiva didn't open his third eye and fry the whole lot of them. I mean, had he done that, it would have been perfectly logical. And to those who think it would have been a distortion, what does one think all the above was?
I agree that Sonarika is not at fault here. An actor can be a very good illustration of the original character, and I think both Mouni & Sonarika did that well. Problem is when the CVs arrogate to themselves the power to distort the character. The best illustration I can think of is Vishal in DBSK. He looked like the perfect Krishna, but from day 1, the CVs there put such mush into his messages that it was impossible to take it seriously. And they're doing the same thing w/ Sonarika here.
I do hope she starts her tapasya soon - at least that way, she'll be forced to stop crying, and we can then see a more serious depiction of Parvati. By tomorrow, please get Narada to give her that idea, and stop dragging the Rati aspect, since they've screwed it up this badly!
