yes, Parvati does curse the devtas to be barren when they interrupt her and Shiva...

I've also heard that Rati smears her body with the ashes of Kama...In the version i know, she is about to give up her life when a divine voice stops her and tells her that the day Shiva marries Parvati, Kama will be restored to her...so I don't know a version in which Kama is retored before the Shiva-Parvati milan...

Rati cursed Parvati to be barren? šŸ˜• that's one i've not heard...

true that both Kartikeys and Ganesha are not "natural" births as in not human...but hey, they're gods...
I've always thought it ironic that Shiva and Parvati have to settle into a traditional grhastha relationship only to have children in a way that doesn;t require a traditional birth!

me too-considering that Kartikeya isnt exactly born out of Parvati and is an ansh of Shiva-Parvati wasnt needed axactly was she šŸ˜†?...infact there are so many people who contribute to Kartikeya-Ganga,Agnidev...even i find it strange!

I also don't understand why they have to make mahadev say these dialogues

" NAHI JAANTHA"
"ASAMBHAV"
"SWEEKAR NAHI KISI BHI MULYA PAR NAHI"
" KOI SAMBANDH NAHI"

it would look absurd if god says this things and again after sometime
marries parvathi.

in a normal story it is ok but in mythological they should at least give explanation for these kind of dialogues.

same happened in sati's case first he says asambhav and then marries and cries for loss of her
and now says who are you

its quiet absurd they can avoid these kind of dialogues and the serial would be much more appealing

regards
Krishna

And the same in the case of Ganesha...in fact, there Shiva is responsible for killing his own son (though of course, he is also the one to restore him to life, under serious threat from Parvati )

I suppose it's meant to be poetic...strange but/and beautiful...

its actually kinda nice you know...Kartikyea is an ansh of Shiva,Ganesha of Parvati only-but still both the parents love the children equally, and they are one happy family...
even though Ganapati isnt Shivas son(literally) but Ganpati bappa is always worshiped as a son of Mahadev and Parvati...

Absolutely!

One of my fav paintings is one of all the family...Shiva, Parvati, Kartikeya and Ganesha. Parvati is threading a garland of skulls, Kartikeya (w/ multiple heads, how many is it? I always forget, 6?) is playing and so is Ganesha ... Shiva is watching calmly, with a leopard next to him...

it's a wonderfully strange yet charming painting...

have you seen it? It's in the Rajput/Mughal style.

Anyway, as to the family. You must've read the stories about the sibling rivalry btn Kartikeya and Ganesha. Sometimes over trivial things, sometimes serious.

In one story ( certainly known S Indian), someone (I can't remember who) offers their daughter to either of Shiva's sons. Parvati and Shiva decide to get Ganesha married. Kartikeya is upset and leaves and takes refuge in South India!
