"My stomach really hurts…"

Actor Parmeet Sethi admits to committing 'professional sin'

The biggest blooper that I can recall is from my modelling days. I'd been selected by Chirag Din for a photo shoot and had to go to Vasai Fort. I'd been paired with this ugly and cheap looking girl in the shoot and wasn't at all looking forward to appearing in the ad with her. In hindsight, it probably would not have mattered, but at that stage I was new and raw and felt that doing the ad might ruin my career. So I reached the sets and faked this really bad stomach ache …writhed in pain…the complete works! The guys had no option but to pack up and send me home. Of course, they tried to call me again for a re-shoot but I just avoided the calls and did not respond. I don't feel bad per se for what I did because I was very new to the glamour world, I'd not met Archana (Archana Puran Singh, actress and Parmeet's wife), had not learnt the ropes of the industry, and in my naivet, I guess, I committed a 'professional sin.' I was just paranoid about ruining my career and ran away from the situation. On television, my biggest blooper happened the first time Apurva (Agnihotri, who plays Armaan) and I had to have a dramatic fight on the serial Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahin. The early episodes of the serial always had him and me (Parmeet plays Raj, Armaan's friend and colleague) fooling around, having fun, hitting on women, etc. Suddenly, when the story track changed, we had to have a massive fight… really over the top and dramatic. And it was a tough scene to do. Off-screen, the two of us are very good friends as well, so initially, we just could not bring ourselves to fight. Every time we had to yell, we'd collapse into fits of laughter. This went on for a couple of hours till the director became very angry, threw down his pad and screamed, "I can't do this. What the ****. I have to deliver too you know." Finally, we managed to complete the scene by breaking it up into many small shots.As told to Nishi Malhotra
