My obvious partiality for my "ladla" aside, I want to point out a couple of things. I did not watch today's episode so I cannot guage Arjun's expressions/emotions when talking to Ovi and Purvi. However, I've noticed a couple of things about PR. (Again, this is based totally on the written update on today's episode and the reaction of the forum members Ive read)
One, the CVs have a tendency to downplay a person's emotions/expressions right before a major twist or change is coming up. It is very possible that they are trying to show Arjun as normal as possible (breezing into the office fresh off the Delhi trip, on the phone with Ovi as usual, casual with Purvi) because they want to heighten the impact of the moment when Arjun finds out what has happened in his absence.
Remember guys that Arjun has no clue that anyone has any idea about him and Purvi- even from a speculation standpoint. He has gone to Delhi and returned from Delhi thinking that nothing has changed, and things are still the same. Also remember that he was very excited and eager to share the news with Purvi that the case with Ovi was solved and his dad would be back- only to have his enthusiasm shot down because she was more concerned with him giving Ovi support. The semi-angry and sarcastic way he asked her "because Ovi is the one who needs me the most now right" and the expression on his face/look in his eyes spoke volumes. He was pissed that when he finally was able to tell Purvi that he could go ahead and openly announce their relationship to everyone she burst his balloon.
I do agree that this is not fair on his part- he bungled and mismanaged things badly in terms of how to handle such a sensitive situation. Although I firmly believe his intensions are pure- he dearly loves Purvi and has no intension of actually marrying Ovi-- nor has he decided to give up on Purvi and just try to make it work with Ovi----the fact is that he has made some serious mistakes and colossal errors in judgement. And I agree, it is not fair that Purvi is going to have to pay the greatest price because of it- through absolutely no fault of hers. She simply fell in love with him and had no prior knowledge of Ovi at all. Also not bad intention on his part- but the single biggest misfortunre in this whole mess: chalk it up to chance, luck, timing, whatever-----his inability to reach Ovi in time to tell her that he cannot proceed with marrying her because he is in love with someone else.
However, that being said, he is very much confused and unsure of where things stand with Purvi. In his mind he had to keep silent out of respect for Ovi's feelings- not because he believes Ovi's feelings are above Purvi's---but because the case really hit home to him the fact that she gave up her career for him and put all her eggs in one basket- namely his. This placed an enormous burden of guilt on him- Ovi giving up her modeling- and in doing so- pretty much her identity-- because she is banking solely on marriage to him. Once he is gone, this would leave her without a future because there would be nothing else in her life to fall back on.
He thinks that by solving the case, he has given Ovi the ability to focus on her career again and hence, focus on something else in her life besides him- assuaging him of his burden of guilt and thereby leaving him free to be with his Purvi. Only to have Purvi herself decide to care more about Ovi's feelings than him (ironic isnt it??)
Even when Purvi calls to remind him about Ovi's birthday and such that is another symbolic thing- did anyone notice that he told her that he has never forgotten Ovi's birthday...and for some reason, now, he didnt remember at all. That symbolism shouldnt be lost on us either because the answer is obvious-he was never in love before and didnt have a Purvi in his life- but here she is now and so things like remembering Ovi's birthday are out the window.
Coming to the interaction today and subsequent scenes. Babying Ovi is nothing new for anyone- for some reason this girl has a very childish and immature personality and nature- hence, it seems she a way of making sure everyone puts her and her feelings first before anything else. Why she is able to draw this kind of reaction- not only from Arjun but also Purvi, Archana, Teju, Manav, DK, etc. is beyond my comprehension. She expects to be talked to and fussed over a certain way- and Arjun and lately Purvi herself, because of their feelings of guilt, have largely enabled this behavior- which is stupidity on both their parts.
As to Purvi, Im not sure Arjun knows how to anticipate what Purvi is about. Any and all interactions from her have been cold and negative. The last few times she had any information to tell him it was either: 1) to inform him about the girl from the office that called Ovi, (also emphasizing the fact that they needed to do whatever they could to save Arjun/Ovi's engagement because there wasnt anything there between her and him anymore), 2) the news that Ovi now knows that Archana is her mother (whereby she states that he needs to be with her and support her through this time (triggering the reaction from him I mentioned above), or 3) Its Ovi's birthday and he needs to be sure to wish her. I do want to see this for myself so I can guage how Purvi sounded with him because he obviously did not pick up on her distress. If the written update is correct she said she needed to speak with him urgently and needed to meet him right away. Every other time she has initiated anything it has been along the lines I mentioned above.
Remember, he doesnt even know that Punni is the "office girl" who called Ovi- let alone the fact that Purvi was publicly outed, confronted, humiliated and slapped in front of everyone and such a huge drama took place. Of all the things he may be expecting that Purvi might want to talk to him about- this is certainly not something he would have seen coming. He may hope that she wants to tell him she loves him, is suffering without him, and that she is on board with him moving forward with revealing their love- but he knows her too well--and knows that the chances of her coming around to think along those lines is slim to none- he knows better than to even entertain this possibility when it comes to her. So in his shoes, when Purvi says she needs to talk to him and meet him- what is there to jump up and down about?
We need to see what his reaction will be after finding out what has happened and that there is no longer any reason to hide anything. Then we can proceed to either applaud him or crucify him based on that. But until then, I wouldnt jump to any conclusions.
