I am trying to depict the symbolisms related to the shoes...I don't know whether the CV's intended so many , but whether they did or not, we can try to depict..no? Like we did around the gunshot scene..
I don't know whether i am anywhere near the truth in interpreting it..Most probably I am wrong..But seeing that many of us are bothered by that and nobody has come up with any explanations for all the shoe symbolisms so far, I am going to give it a try..Don't be mad at me if I am totally wrong...
1.At first, guru gave Mohan the new pair of shoes, typical class shoes ,not at all like the casual shoes which Mohan is used to wearing..esp with different laces in each shoe and with shoe laces not tied properly..Mohan made a face..as if asking Guru'should I wear this??-----------------------------Mohan is in love..no doubt regarding that'and eager to get married ..he has agreed to his mom also that he is ready to marry. But is he mentally aware of all the responsibilities that come with marriage, leave alone marriage to a woman with 2 widows? How much has he really thought about such practical aspects? Till now he has lived a totally difft knd of life.'wearing shoes with different shoelaces and not tying them properly etc can be taken as symbolic evidence of representing the care free life he has had..totally messy'those of you who rmember Meghs cleaning up his desk at the office on her first day at PL will get what I mean'..not able to fix anything at home'clumsy like anthing 'he cannot survive without Guru for even a single day..he has been totally pampered by Guru.Guru is just giving a hint that, now that he is going to get married, he should shed off his old care free habits and start being more responsible'Mohan's first reaction is ofcourse..Woh!!! me'and he gives his tpical look to Guru..but wears the shoes nevertheless .he is ready to do anything for his love'.and if it means being more responsible and shedding off many of his old ways, 'fine'but he cannot do it with enthusiasm from day 1..his typical reaction to Guru shows just that'And it is true that one cannot change overnight'.he has expressed it beautifully..
2.Next ,there is this mr clean accidently wearing Mohan's shoes and going away..Mohan is realizing that he is gong away with his shoes, only at the last moment'he shouts from behind..but the man does not hear him..he comments'.someone is taking what belongs to me from in front of my eyes and I am just watching..this is ridiculous!!!
He creates a ruckus ther by shouting..and may be people there notice.. bec Mr Clean later tells Mohan that when he went back to the mandir,the people there told him about who the true owner of the shoes is'indore's famous journalist.-------------------------------->
Here, of course there is this obvious symbolism staring at your face''Mohan is realizing that someone is taking what belongs to him'Megha from in front of his eyes and he is just watching it unable to do anything.. by the time he looked around and realized who is it who took away his Megha from him, tha t person is already gone'.kamal hai..
And here please take a note that he did not make his usual obvious reply..chodo na Guru'accha hua wo jute kise ne chori kiya.. waise bhi muche wo pasanth nahin tha'chal, achha hua'No, though he made a face in the beginning about having to shed his care free ways and act in more responsible ways,v soon he accepted the fact and is prepared to do what Guru says '.and while he is getting ready for that '.someone else is stepping onto the shoes and trying to take up the responsiblites that he is supposed to undertake'..it upsets him v much.
3.Mr clean, now that he realizes that the shoes he stepped into belongs to someone else, is coming back to where he found the shoes to enquire.. and there he is being told about the true owner of the shoes by others'so he has come bck to return the shoes and also to ask for forgiveness' Here, it reflects his goodness that he came back and enquiresd about who the owner could be..he could have just thrown away the shoes when he realized thatit did not fit him..but he has taken the trouble to find out, and also to personally come to the owner and hand it back to him with apologies.-------------------.>
Probably he and Meghs will get engaged or so and then he might go back after fixing up a date for marriage'I don't know what is going to happen.Well, let us just assume that he and Meghs get engaged'.and he goes back.. obviously meghs is not going to be v enthusiastic about the marriage..most probably she would have agreed bec then she will be able to go far away from Mohan..being near him,even if she gets married, will cause her as much pain as is bound to cause him as well.Also, at least her kid's security is assured'but, the doc will start to feel that something is amiss '.yes, the shoes is not fitting properly'it is quite uncomfortable..that is the time he must have realized that it is probably not his shoes and came back searching for the owner. As I said before, it reflects his goodness and also points to what might happen.. when he is sure that something is wrong and that meghs is troubled, he will come back to enquire..obviously meghs will not say anything, atleast in the beginning.. then he will enquire with the kids, jiji, etc..and will come to know how much the kids love mhan.. and may be jiji iwill tell him all about mohan's love for megha and about megha's confusion, about Indu's stand etc'.And guru might tell him about his bhaiya's present state of mind as well'.so finally the doc will decide to take matters in his own hands and will come to tell Mohan that he is returning Megha to him'.indu's presence there at the time can signify that he will come to tell mohan that he is returning Megha to him,when Indu is also present..
4.Mohan says'..no, no, if you had deliberately taken what belonged to me and then returned it later, then it would have been a problem. But this you did unknowingly..And the mere fact that you have comw to return it is proof that you are a good man'.And he is friendly and cordial with Mr Clean.--------->
No need of much of an explanation for this..
5.Then mr clean says to check for damage and that he will compensate for any damages.Mohan brushes that off..
And he says..as it is I did not like wearing those shoes much'.but guru here made me wear it.
Let us take this line a little differently'He doens not mean to say that he does not like to step into his new role[by stepping into the new shoes]..we can tke it as a mistake in part of the CV's and infer it this way.. ------------------->
I did not want to change into these new shoes any way.. and become prim and proper'to take up the new responsiblitis..I was quite happy with my old casual ways'care free ways..but it is Guru who was behind me pestering me to wear this new prim and proper shoes ..The way he said it to the doc'he had no regrets ..that he was not more prim and proper..he is confident that his care free ways is enough and more. He is nearly losing Megha to the doc ,probably bec he is not prim and proper and appeared to be care free 'and not fit to handle the resposiblities that come with marriage to megha ..may be this is the explanation that our meghs will give Mohan for not agreeing to marry him'she might say..you are so car free.. you will have to make such a drastic change in your attitude and will have to properly take up so many responsibilities.Will that be fair to you, ?No..I don't want you to have to change so much in order to accommodate us in your life' it will not be good for you 'bla bla ..
But he still feesl that his care free ways are enough to sustain his love for meghs and the kids...but he was trying to become prim and proper becuese guru wanted him to..
6.And '.he tells Mr Clean.. we were fated to meet.. and points to the shoes ..the shoes were just instrumental so that they could get to meet..And that such relationships will be special'.this can be taken as an indication that their future relationship will turn out to be something very special'-------->Obviuously, Mohan is not going to like the doc at first, but later on I feel there is going to be a relationship for life'.When the doc returns back his meghs to him, and that too with apologies, he will be touched.. And somewhere I feel it is the Doc who will be able to convince indu that marrying a widow with 2 kids is not a crime ..Indu has some amount of snobbishness in her' did you see huw her face brightened up when she heard that manav is a Doc, and that too a NRI from America..?So she might listen to him'esp when he says that such things are common inUS etc etc'and consent for MM marriage, though not whole heartedly'Complete acceptance will come much much later after marriage..once she realizes that Mohan is indeed truly happy with megha and the kids'.because ultimately she gives maximum importance to her SON"S happiness and not what society says about her son marrying a widow etc'here we have to indeed note that point..not even once has Indu made any mention of how the society will react,what people will say..etc..her concern has always been Mohan's happiness' and I really feel that she is a GOOD MOTHER.. and once she realizes that her son is really happy with megha and the kids, she will give them also the same love she I giving Mohan now'.
7.And finally, when Mr Clean gets up to leave and mohan goes to seehim off..he turns back and tells guru..Guru..sambaal'-------------->. it so indicates his state of mind'He wants the shoes, that is megha, he is thrilled that he got her back, though he does not want to admit in front of a stranger and tries to act nonchalant..but he needs guru to take care of the the new day to day responsiblties that will come up with it..just like before, he is telling Guru---'guru ,tu sambhaal'.
