"I am done." He raised his hands giving up. " Your painting is perfectly in the middle of the wall. If you don't find it perfect, the fault lies in your eyes."

"Mayank! This is an artifact I inherited from my granny. According to Feung- shi it should exactly be in the center of the wall else….."

"Else?"

"Else it brings bad luck upon a new couple." I whispered afraid.

"Don't know about that but if couples keep bickering about putting that thing in the middle, it will land in the middle of them. They are bound to break-up."

"What? No, I don't want that to happen. We have just started…I mean..you ..you have only recently proposed me." I lowered my eyes blushing.

"Are you insane? I only told you that I don't dislike you."

"But that's the same right? You even kissed me on graduation night. So its equivalent that you love me too?" I beamed delighted at my calculations.

"Easy girl, I just acknowledged your feelings for me. You had always been a problem for me. A difficult with no solution. For the first time in my life I did not know how to solve a problem. I tried the easier way out. I tried running away from it. But it was tough with you always following me around. Now I have realized I need to face the problem to find the right answer. That doesn't mean I have fallen for you."

"If you don't get it…then just forget it."

"NO…No..I do." I clutched his arm tightly laying my head on his shoulder and closed my eyes shut." It's enough for me that you don't dislike me like I used to think. I know I always kind of a bug following you everywhere, meddling in between . I thought you liked girls only like Angelena. I am so happy to be proved wrong. Truly I am so grateful for I have always loved you." Tears brimmed in my eyes.

Subversive to my knowledge , Mayank smiled hearing my words.

"Hey don't you have the college placements to attend? It's getting late."

"Yeah..today the PR groups are coming. Hope they hire me as a writer." I quickly wiped away the tears looking up." Let's go."

"Errr….My hand , Nupur"

"Oh..Sorry. " I instantly let go off his.

"Sorry, Sir. That's the way you say Miss."

"Mayank." My jaw dropped.

"Rodger. I told you to teach your employees some manners. I will not have liberal Americanism ruin my office!"

"Sorry Sir. She's a new company hire. Nupur , he is the board director. Apologize." A short portly man in mid-thirties roared in my ears. He was Rodger Bells- my supervisor head.

"Yes Sir." I grumpily nodded. With my teeth clenched I apologized." My apologies Mr. Mayank Sharma for colliding into you."

"You'll regret this." I added in a low fierce tone.

He smirked," Faulty employees who don't heed their bosses are the first ones to fall victim to the economic slowdown."

"I'll take care of that , Sir."

"Very well. Rodger we have wasted enough time. Follow me to my cabin. The ASPS_ #TH deal is surely going to……………………………." His voice trailed as they went towards the lift to reach his 15 storeyed high cabin.

I went back to my small office space in the first floor angrily bumping the papers. Finally I got my dream job as a writer for CNBS network. But at what price? To be regularly humiliated and subdued by him? The papers crushed in a ball.

I need to do something. The world needs to know I am his lawfully wedded wife. Then only he'll stop acting so smart! I am doing a contract marriage with him for this job , not to take his daily crap.

My eyes lit as a devilish plan to uncover his secret flashed in my mind. But before that I needed my revenge for today.

"Nupur! Nupur can you hear me?"

"Louder Mayank!!" I shouted over the phone.

"It's past midnight now. Where the hell are you? What's that noise behind you?"

"Party Mayank! My new colleagues have thrown a welcome party for me. Rob is the one to thank for all this…Tskk…shkkk…….."

"What was that? Why are your words coming cut?"

"We are dancing now! I'll come late Mayank. Good-night." I hung up my cell and taking another shot I hit the dance floor.

Rob. Anne, Tez, Alex and Beth were my new colleagues. Rob had invited me to this welcome party at Maddiz night club which I had gladly accepted on purpose. Their idea of fun was limited to drinks, dance and some real flirting.

As I grooved wherever my body swung to the beats a firm hand clutched my wrist." Party's over Nupur", he growled.

"My-an-knee" I tried figuring out his face as the disco lights revolved like the alcohol inside of me." Let me dance some more." I sprung my hands around his neck inching closer."

"Girl you are drunk."

"No…I no drink. I good girl." I pouted.

"Sir, you'r here?" Each one of them looked shocked.

"Mind your businesses, Who's Rob?"

"Sir that's me." A lean and then bespectacled guy in his young twenties stood forward.

"Does anyone of you have a driver?"

"No sir." He looked puzzled at the rest of them at Mayank's question.

" Then with no cabs available outside at this hour how do you plan to reach home tonight?"

"My-an-knee…look at me" I sang in lullaby. Alice and Beth looked afraid and they gave me warning signs that I was in my Boss's arms.

He straightened me turning his attention back to Rob and company. "I asked how will you all go home this drunk? Are you guys gonna drive drunk? " he minced with cold fury.

"Sir..No..we..we've got the public transport for that. We are taking the subway."

"It's already past mid-night. The subways close soon in an hour. Leave right now."

"Right sir. " petrified of Mayank , everyone tried making a dash for the exit.

"Hey take her with you, your colleague."

"My-an-knee…….you are sending me with THEM?" my jaw dropped.

"That's what you wanted right?" coldly he jerked me away and started to leave.

"Nupur….Cummon let's go." Alice held my hand. I set it aside dashing clumsily behind him.

"YOU…you…I hate you! I hate you with all my power. You are a badass jerk!"

"Nupur, he's your boss…you are drunk heavily girl…"

"Always so high headed! Who are you? God? I am not going. No one is going anywhere. I am dancing again."I crossed my arms determined.

He turned around. "Dance then. But if you come late for office tomorrow , be ready with your resignation else you'll be fired."

"You horrible jerk!" I lurched at him only to fall half-way. Alice supported me to regain my stance." Whatever soft corner I ever had left for you has vanished completely now! I only hate you now!"

"You are the only light in this dark world full of scary people. Like a gentle river you guide me along. I just need to see your beautiful face to make my dull lectures seem bright. The day I don't see you in college……….."

I threw a nearby bottle at him which he cleverly ducked." How dare you!!!!"

"Did you wrote a love letter to him?" Rob looked at me astounded.

"I will kill you Today My-an-kneee, you scoundrel….."I lurched with greater strength this time letting free of Alice's support but fell flat at Mayank's feet.

"Ouch…."I rubbed my head. My head hurt from the fall. It was spinning badly.

"Get up Nupur" Someone shoved my back.

"Get up girl."

"Are you alright Nupur?"

Different voices shouted at once of which I couldn't make out any sense. I tried rising up but my body didn't listen to my head's instructions as it remained flat on the glass- floor.

"Hey. Leave her. Get back everyone!"

"Nupur hold on ."

"My-an-knee." I raised my eyes to stare in his beautiful dark brown ones. He made me sit and the made me hop on to his back. Like a baby I clung on to him as his took me outside.

It was warm snuggling in his velvety soft hair. I held tightly across his chest determined not to let go off the warm tinkling feeling that crawled inside me wherever his body was in contact with mine. Rich lavender scent emanated from his body engulfing my senses. My legs slid off his waist as he jerked me higher so I could cling properly to his back.

"Do you have any heart problem?"

"Huh?"

"Why is your heart pounding so loud then?"

I raised my chest from his back wondering how he heard that.

"Take care of it. Else you'll have problem having babies ."

"WHAT?"

"Babies. That's what I said. Your heart wants that, right?" he smirked.

"Hey! " I slacked him hard on the back distancing myself as far as possible for him. As a result I was hanging in mid-air.

"Hey!!" he lost his balance too.

"Heyy!!!" everyone behind us shouted as they saw both of us fall infront of the night-club.
