.:: Contributions of the Character ::.
Seema's major contributions to LTL was by being the underlying reason behind a simple, happy, and loving Dutta to become Dutta Bhao , the Sher of the whole patil wadi, a don. She was a young and had made the mistake of favoring money of true relations. I truly think had she remained that girl who liked her simple bangles and candy floss and had she stuck to her initial character, then possibly she would be having a very doting husband by now, one whom sincerely loved her. But, as we all know, she chose something that she probably least expected to play with her life, money.
Her being, although physically absent for most of the show, it was significant in the life of DSP. Her betrayal had left him shattered until a small, simple girl from a basti came to pick up its pieces and slowly put it back together. Seema's words continuously echoed for him, she had made him seem so worthless for love that he may have believed it, especially coming from the person whom he had feelings for. He became Dutta Bhao to prove and point on how money is hardly an issue, he wanted to make her see he was capable of earning enough to just throw in her face to belittle her in his eyes. But I wonder why he had never felt the need to prove that he was worthy of love, a true love? Why did he not want to prove her wrong in that point? It was as if he had accepted that defeat from her. He became a cold person, emotionless on the exterior but an emotional wreck on the inside because her words, her as a person did that to him.
Of course the story took off on many different tracks and eventually came to be about two soul-mates trying to overcome challenges thrown at them to succeed in love. And as a story shapes up we suddenly have the physical re-entry of Seema/Chanda. She comes back into the picture but meets Nakusha, a character whom she kind of, in some sense, connects with. Through Naku's devotion and love for her husband and the significant amount of faith she holds for everything to be fine eventually was possibly to set base for Chanda to be able to understand where the difference lies between Seema and Nakusha in Dutta's life. Naku's moral strength and selfless nature was complete contrast to Seema/Chanda who was there for herself and who wanted some redemption from D, to be accepted again by him.
Seema's time of helping Dutta during his blind times, again it was in hopes of trying to woo him to her and to forgive her. She had not once stopped to think about how his life may have changed, where did he stand in life? Was he married or did she assume that he would be sitting around waiting for her? It's interesting for a person who's lived almost a horrid life of being just a being for desire; you would think her experience with men would teach her to understand something about them. Dutta, from the moment he found out it was Seema who was giving him shelter and protection; as much as he would've loved to flee, he had no choice so stayed but kept his distance from her. He had even made it clear to her that she was no longer that person for him. It was like she wasn't reading between those lines that there was someone else. Someone to make him think maybe he never really had "love" for seema to begin with.
Seema possibly had a sense of satisfaction over the idea of having D and her old life back. Her life hadn't exactly turned out as she'd hoped but she wanted to have it back and her ticket out of her current place was him and again it had selfish intentions. She did redeem herself when she found out about D and N. When she saw them hug, she knew from both sides what the other felt and I was glad to see that she had chosen to accept that D had moved on.
When she came back to PN, under the manipulative acts of Kala, she fell as a prey. Purposely being played to believe she is the one who D should be with, D still remembered her and what not and it was again her own desires, intentions that was letting Kala play her with each strum. But anyway in the end, she died and I guess with the satisfaction she served her purpose.
Anyway my dear friends/LTLians...thanks for reading...lol now I have to admit that I have not watched much of her scenes..especially the earlier ones and hence really do not know much about this character so this came from what I gathered of her from later episodes and the references made to her involvement in the past...anyway hope I made sense..I have a tendency to go off ...yapping away :P
