NDTV: Gia Manek replaced for breach of contract.

Actress Gia Manek who shot to fame as of the 'Gopi bahu' in popular TV serial Saath Nibhana Saathiya has been replaced for breach of contract. Gia has broken the terms of her contract by participating in dance reality show Jhalak Dikhla Jaa.

According to reports, STAR Plus, the channel which airs her show, was against her joining the reality show and this led to a disagreement between the actress and the channel.

"Gia was strictly asked not to join the rival GEC, but the actress chose to ignore the warning. Now, the channel has immediately discontinued her as the lead of their show. It was clearly mentioned in the contract that any actor working with the channel cannot breach their contract," a source said.

STAR Plus issued a statement saying- "Starting tomorrow, June 7th, one of STAR Plus' longest running shows, Saath Nibhana Saathiya will see a new face essaying the role of 'Gopi bahu', the lead protagonists of the show; which has been played by Gia Manek since its launch. The association with Giaa Manek has however been discontinued with immediate effect, due to unprofessional conduct and breach of contract from the actor's side. "

According to sources, actress Devoleena Bhattacharjee, who was last seen as 'Baani' in the popular serial Preeto, will take over from Gia.
