I'm sure many of us here have been compared to someone at some point in life. And of course no body likes being compared to their impossibly perfect sibling(s), their cousins and the neighbor's daughter. But how about when someone compares you to a celebrity? A famous, good looking celebrity? Do you feel good about yourself to some extent or do you feel like you don't have an identity of your own. And why? Do you counter argue and prove how your not similar or do you simply agree and later on start goggling his/her picture to see why and where people think your a look alike.

Let me know what y'all think of such a comparison!

I definitely feel good about myself when someone compares me to a celebrity. At least, I do not have to spend a lifetime pretending to be perfect, I can be myself. I am just starting my life, and I'm very sure that I'll put in all my efforts to have an identity of my own, and someday will have it; but i do not to wish have an "identity of my own" like these celebrities, but somewhere it is actually counted.
Nope, I simply agree that me and that celebrity are not similar, 'cause we're not.
When people tell me that I look like a particular celebrity, I just shrug my shoulders and walk away, cause i simple do not care.

when i was being compared with my sister, thats when i didnt like it and felt like i dont have an identity of my own... but thankfully it has stopped now...
as for being compared to a famous, good looking celebrity... ofcourse i feel good about it... and take it as a compliment... it has nothing to do with my identity coz its mainly the looks that people can sometimes find similar but other than that the comparison is baseless as we do not know what celebrities are really like..

When someone is comparing u with a celebrity , it is totally based on looks... because the person himself/herself doesnot know nothing more than looking good about the celebrity... Hence it is natural for one to feel happy when one compares you to a celebrity and will take it as a compliment
Unless other wise the celebrity is not looking good or is famous for the wrong reasons.

When someone compares you with a friend/relative/family member , then the actual thinking starts...
for example if husband compares his wife innocently or cunningly to his ex girlfriend or a woman he was interested in ... it hurts ...
Here the comparison is beyond looks ... it turns into comparison of capabilities , wad one can do and wad one cannot ...

I... never pay attention to any compliments/comparision to celebs. Most of the times when someone compliments or associates my features with that of celebs IDK why, I dont believe them. I just dont want to believe them..
as i grew up, i ignored their compliments because, it's their perspective of how I look, so... whatever! Infact, I'd say i get turned off when someone say i look like so-and-so, idk why..

hmmm...i have not been compared to any celebrity lol.
it depends upon the celebrity. if its one who i like then yes i would appreciate the gesture. if he is someone who i dont like then no i will try to counter it. however first they need to compare me to someone lol.

isn't your look part of your own identity though? So again, it makes me wonder why people are not ok with being compared to their siblings but readily accept the comparison made with famous celebrities/actors. Is it because they are famous? Isn't a part of your own self identity lost somewhere when one says, "Star_On_earth looks like Katrina". It's like now your whole outter self has been associated to the actress, Katrina. It takes away from who you really are, at least to some extent IMO.

Ego is comparison? I don't understand you. A person can have an alter ego, but how is your self ego a comparison of another human being?

Yes, everyone is unique, but comparison is a norm, a human nature one cannot ignore just because "everyone is unique".
