Shiney Ahuja

Shiney Ahuja is one smart fella. The rising star is not just media-friendly, but he's gone one step further and become more 'visible' to his friends.

Most actors would gladly give photo sessions a miss and are far from net savvy. But our boy Ahuja has gone ahead and created a gmail account where he's uploaded some of his newest pics.

And just in case you're doing a story and need him in a new look, just send him an SMS and he'll forward you the username and password. And just like that, you can get into Shiney's email account and get yourself your daily fix.

Some, like us, are probably going to log in and ogle for hours on end without being disturbed! Hah!

KANK for Toronto film fest

Karan Johar's Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna has been selected in the gala section of the Toronto Film Festival. Explains Karan, "I had met Cameron Bailey, the head of the Toronto festival, at the Cannes festival in May. He had shown interest in KANK.

This is the benefit of attending intentional cinema events. It's not just your vision as a cinema person that broadens but prospects of Indian cinema also get better. I'm especially glad about KANK being selected for Toronto, because it might open up a new market for our cinema in North America. I don't think any mainstream Hindi film has been selected for a gala presentation at Toronto before this."

The Festival generally selects unreleased films, but with KANK they've made an exception. "Our film will be screened there on September 10, and I hope to be there with the entire cast."

Karan hopes to have the first full-length screening of the film for the cast and crew sometime this week as soon as Amitabh Bachchan returns from London.

Nautankiwalli Deepsheekha

She has done Marathi, Gujarati, Punjabi, Tamil, Hindi and English films.

Now, Deepsheekha (numerologically correct) will be seen in her first Bhojpuri flick, Shaerwali Jaan Mare Le, directed by Bobby Singh. Deepsheekha plays the character of a nautankiwalli.

The movie is a complete masala mix and has various item numbers performed by her.

Deepsheekha is also seen in Niraj Sahay's untitled film starring Rajat Bedi, Aryan Vaid and Meera, besides Deepak Bahry's Lara which stars Arbaaz Khan and Hrishitta Bhatt.

She has acted in Vinod Pandey's Red Swastik and her Marathi film Motiyachi Renuka is also ready for release. Deepsheeka is real comfy speaking in so many languages and dialects. Language is no bar for this party-hearty actress.

We really wonder why Sangeeta Bijlani steers clear from the screen calling.

A few evenings ago, we found her in an animated conversation at a club in Bandra.

Sans even a trace of make-up, she looked stunning.

Now wonder what hubby Azhar has to say?

Aftab's German pride

Ankahee may have left audiences cold at home, but it seems to have won itself a fan following in Germany at the just-concluded Stuttgart Film Festival. Leading man Aftab Shivdasani, who attended, is ecstatic.

"The theme was Bollywood & Beyond. I was exposed to a film festival for the first time. Though the NRIs were relatively cold to it, I got such a fantastic response from the German audience."

Says Aftab, "They thought Ankahee was more like a European than an Indian film: quite a departure from the Bollywood song 'n dance formula. So what didn't work for Ankahee in India, worked abroad.

In fact, there's a suggestion that the film be released in non-NRI sectors of Europe," says Aftab, who enjoyed 48 hours of adulation. "It was a short and sweet experience."
