SRK's 40 : "It'll do me good to slow down!"



Happy birthday Shah Rukh. You're touching the 'Big 40' – when most metabolisms slow down. Do you feel it catching up?
"No, its good for me if I slowed down a bit. Last 39–40 years, I've been running around at super-speed. It'll do me good to slow myself, so I don't wear out. In a way it's a regenerating process. I would want my metabolism to stay the same but I want to take it all at an easier pace."

Looking back, you feel you've done it all the right way? Or would you like to 'erase, rewind ... a bit?
"Not really actually. More than what I've done, it's how people have accepted me. I've done it the way people have been doing it for so many years. It's thanks to all the people who've watched me and liked me. And I'm glad it's happened this way. I don't think very many people get to be so lucky, so blessed or get such a nice life. I wouldn't want to change anything. I say, 'If it ain't broke, don't fix it'. I'm in America so I'm speaking like them, excuse me."

The natural testosterone-driven reaction to insinuations on a hetero male's sexuality is to 'pound their heads in'? How do you stay so calm at such questions?
"I would want to 'pound their heads' if I wasn't happy with the way I am. I've never had any problems with people's orientation. They could be long, short, dark – or even have different sexual orientations, but that's never made me uncomfortable. Likewise, I know what I'm all about and my friends and family know and that's what matters."

Media remember you as a hot-tempered, angry newcomer - impatient with everyone – from 15 years ago -- what's caused the metamorphosis?
"Yes, just the other day a friend commented about how patient I'd become. I guess it has happened over the last 4-5 years; since my kids came into my life. They're unruly and uncontrollable and they say a lot of things that they're not supposed to; but I love them. The media is like that too. I treat the media like I would children. And today, I think I've learnt to accept a lot of things. Overall, they've has been good to me. I would not be honest if I said otherwise. I think I can forgive some uneducated people if they say certain things. And now especially with so much 'tabloidism' coming into TV, radio; even newspapers have become like that. Maybe with foreign media coming in a big way into the country, things are finding their own levels. I'm in the media too. So I guess as a person I've become more patient and understanding."

They say, as you get older you get more religious. Is that true for you?
"I was always religious. I pray to Allah everyday. Sometimes more than five times a day. I believe everything in life is controlled by Allah. I believe that Islam means 'peace' and 'charity'; just as Hinduism stands for 'goodness' and 'karma'. It's important to take that time out to connect with your beliefs."

Your 40th birthday resolution is ...
"I think that should be to give up smoking. If I can do that then I will be 'the king of the world' – which I already am, of course. So then I'll be more 'kinger'!

Any special message to your fans
"I cannot express my love enough. My fans will always be special in my life. It's nice to have so many people who are not related to you love you so much. It is for them that I'm working towards the Oscar. If I get it, Inshallah, I'll be happy. If I don't get it, it won't be for any want of trying.

Shah Rukh falls in love with an old woman


Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan is to be reborn. The cat is finally out of the bag, Farah Khan has finally revealed the synopsis of her new film Om Shanti Om, and it is not a remake.


Rumours going around the media were that Farah Khan was going to base the film on the remake of classic hit Karz, which starred Rishi Kapoor.

But Farah has said that the film is defiantly not a remake but it has similarities with Karz.

The film is set during the 70's and the present. Shah Rukh Khan plays a character who dies during the 70s but is reborn soon after, and starts to remember his previous life when he reached his adult age. In Karz, Rishi Kapoor's character was also reincarnated.

That is as far as Farah Khan has gone, but we here at radiosargam.com can reveal a little more, about the actual story of the film. We were the first to reveal the story of Veer-Zaara, upsetting Yash Raj Films, and we can now reveal the story to this Farah Khan film also.

The story is a mix of Hrithik Roshan's Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai, Rishi Kapoor's Karz, and the Nicole Kidman starrer Birth.

The story begins in the 70s where Shah Rukh Khan's character falls in love with a beautiful young girl (played by newcomer Deepika Padukone). However, certain incidents take place, and Shah Rukh Khan is murdered.


He is immediately reborn, and as soon as he reaches adulthood, goes in search of the girl that he left behind in the 70s. The only problem is that his love is now in her golden age and there is a huge age difference.

Will both overcome that?

Will Shah Rukh be able to avenge his death?

Will both lovers be able to live together?

That is the premise of this film.

Shahrukh Is a Cripple
The eternal loverboy Shahrukh Khan has been crippled.

Don't get me wrong, and please control your heart if it is shattered, but the news is true. If only fictitiously. Gotcha! Right…Well, the rumour has now been confirmed. SRK has a slight cripple in one of his legs in KJ's 'Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna'.

It's not as if he always had the ailment. He went through this trough in life after having played his share of football and basketball, a la 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai'. An accident gives him a limp-in-the-leg. And he gets crippled in the mind owing to this setback.

It would be interesting to watch SRK in a role where he is made out to be a bit of a weakling. With due respect to all the critics (Me included) one should stop pestering Shahrukh with this allegation that "Hey he does the same thing again and again. There's no variety. He can't go out of his comfort level of a Raj or Rahul." What no one should forget is that each time SRK gets on the screen; he is a dynamite of energy.

There's something that is magnetic about him that pulls people to the big screen and spend millions to watch him woo his heroines. I guess it's a seasonal thing where as people say good things about one and not so good things about others. But I am not guessing when I say that SRK season is about to begin. And it will last the year end for sure.

Shah Rukh and Amitabh war goes into politics


Bollywood superstars Shah Rukh Khan and Amitabh Bachchan are set to take their fight into the world of politics.


Amitabh Bachchan's son Abhishek Bachchan is currently having a ball of a time, with hits after hits, and popularity reaching ultimate heights.

Combine that with the free promotion you get being the son of a legend, and big banners like Dharma Productions, Ram Gopal Verma, and Yash Chopra, wanting to sign you up repeatedly. Abhishek Bachchan is surely going to be as big as Shah Rukh Khan, if not even bigger. The threat of Abhishek's popularity is proving to be Shah Rukh Khan's insecurity, with the King Khan worried that his status as being the King, is under threat from Big B's only son. Where once he was the darling of directors, and anyone would give their arm or leg to work with him, he is now being kept at an arm's length. He may still be the numero uno in Bollywood, and his popularity is still going storng, there is someone who is about to reach out for his throne. It is this exact threat from Abhishek Bachchan that has got Shah Rukh Khan worried. After all anyone, in any aspect of employement, would indeed get worried if someone was about brush them aside.

A cold war has already begun, with both Amitabh and Shah Rukh distancing themselves from each other. No longer is the King Khan regarded as a 'moo-bola' son of the Bachchans, and no longer does Shah Rukh regard the Big B as the inspiration behind his achievement.

Amitabh has managed to get Ram Gopal Verma on his side, with Ramu saying no to Shah Rukh Khan's home production, and in return working with Amitabh and Abhishek in Sholay 2 and Sarkar 2. Aditya Chopra has signed Abhishek Bachchan in place of Shah Rukh Khan for his next direcorial, even though the Khan has given him most of his hits, a blow that Khan took very personally. And finally, Karan Johar is looking elsewhere for his next film, after the release of Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna. Karan has praised the acting of Ajay Devgan and Shahid Kapur, so one assumes that his next film will include one of these two actors, if not both.


What can Shah Rukh do to keep himself alive in this battle of Bollywood giants? Or the more correct question would be; "What can Sonia Gandhi do for Shah Rukh Khan?"

It seems the war between the legends has to go into another area of battle, as the world of films is way too small for either of them. So it's time to battle for supremacy at the political level. How? Read on…

Amitabh Bachchan has favoured the Samajwadi Party for a while now, and his friendship with it's leader Amar Singh is well known. This friendship and political alliance is no way healthy for the Congress Party and it's leader Sonia Gandhi. Why does the biggest name in India have to support the opposition and not them?
