"And what do all the great words come to in the end, but that? I love you -- I am at rest with you -- I have come home."- Dorothy Sayers
He realized he was in car when his Mercs came to a halt. Arnav lifted his head to see the cause of his attention being diverted. He never liked it. For him business was his life. Well he knew it was his escape mechanism to run away from the harsh realities of life. Orphaned at young age, family burden, establishing a business empire was not a child's play in any angle. He had done it all. His Di was his entire world. Right now she was under acute stress. She fell in love with a moron and married him. After 2 years of their wedded life, it came as a shock to entire Raizada family about the scumbag son in law. He was nothing but a thug. Who was having several illicit liaisons and was here in RM only for the money and glory. So when his Di Anjali decided to divorce this filthy being, everyone backed her in full force. Arnav made sure he was available to his Di 24/7. It was one of the most testing times for the family. Finally they came out of it. It was just last week everything finally ended.
He asked the driver to check the reason for the commotion in this narrow lanes of Delhi. He was on his way for his friend's wedding. He never liked this social happenings at any account. But Aman being his best buddy and having spent so many years with him in US when they were doing MBA at Harvard, he had to be a part of this occasion. For Aman. He was more or less a surrogate brother. Now he was part of Arnav's business empire taking care of his South side ventures. They had lots of fun during their dorm days. So for all this he was ready to put up with anything for Aman. Attending his wedding in some crowded part of Delhi where only one vehicle could pass at a time and one extra being on road could cause roadblocks. The girl's parents had insisted on wedding in their ancestral Haveli and Aman agreed for it. This oxymoron. Never had learnt to say NO even after being with Arnav for such a long time.
The driver said that there was a girl haggling with the Rickshaw driver. And that had caused the traffic to come to standstill. What The was his immediate reaction. This being or girl had some nerve to waste Arnav Singh Raizada's time. And causing his royal highness to come out of his chariot. When he did, he was beckoned to some sight. The prettiest thing he had ever seen. She was all decked in indian attire. Almost looking like a bride. She had another girl with her as company who was trying to calm this one. She was a live wire Arnav thought. But a pill. Well all girls were pills. Expect for his family members. So he maintained distance from them. Was it for the lack of time and not able to meet anyone or was it because he thought girls were pills.Well never mind. All the same. He avoided them altogether. But there was something about this girl. Almost a magnetic power. He was drawn to her. He could have as well sent his driver resolve this issue. But now he had to go. So have one good look at this sweet little pill(contradictory in itself) from close quarters. He went to her. She was busy squabbling with that already worn out man. No immediate respite seemed in sight for him. So Arnav straight went to the man and how much more does she owe you fixing his eyes on this pill. She almost popped out her eye balls and her mouth made an O. Arnav tried very hard not to laugh. He had forgotten to this emotion altogether. This expression of her was well worth a smirk at least. She pounced on Arnav with words. She asked what was his business in her personal matter and who was he to help her out. She was a strict gandhian and would fight with anyone when it comes to ethics. And this man was hell bent on charging her Rs.10 more. That didn't go well with her. Arnav held his breath to register what she was saying. All he could hear was Gandhi, Rs.10.. He was so immersed in her beauty. That almond color doe eyes, that beautiful lips, porcelain beauty, translucent clear skin , those dangling earrings which agreed to what ever she said by swinging to and fro. Even after she completed her sentence he was still glaring at her and she had to snap her fingers in front of him to remove him out of her spell. And she succeeded. Arnav without talking to her slammed Rs.100 note to the driver and hinted him to drive off. He could deal with this girl who was now an ex-pill. Angered by all this, Khushi looked at him in disbelief and could utter only Da-Ba-Ma-Uhhhs. Arnav said because of her Rs.10, she was wasting thousands of rupees of other people in terms of their precious time. He said the entire road was blocked from past 10 minutes. People have pressing business and she should sometimes just let go of things. All Khushi could do is blink her eyes as Arnav made his way to the car.
Khushi and Payal entered the Haveli. Payal all the while calming Khushi's agitated mood asked her to move on and just enjoy the wedding. They were here for Akruti's wedding who was Khushi's best friend Ananya's sister. Akruti was Payal's best friend. Ananya rushed to the sisters and said Akruti's was eagerly waiting for Payal. Khushi forgetting everything came back to her original self. The high spirited girl. She was cynosure of everyone in her family. She had lost her parents when she was a small girl and her aunt and uncle had adopted her. She was never differentiated from Payal her elder cousin. They both were very close and were soul sisters. Payal was doing her MS in psychology and Khushi was doing bachelors in Human Resource Management. Everything was perfect in their little world. Their father Shashi Gupta was a Govt officer and mother Garima a house wife. Both doted on their daughters. It was a picture perfect family. This wedding would change the course of events for sure as Arnav and Khushi had crossed their paths.
Khushi was busy with wedding events unfolding. Baraat had arrived and the rituals had started. The guests were welcomed. She,Payal and Ananya were scrambling around so settle things down. They were serving baartis with juice and water. Khushi didn't notice a piercing gaze on her. And they came face to face. Khushi lifted her head to ask if he would prefer water or juice and realized it was the man from the road. He said I would prefer water as he is diabetic. She didn't have to know that. For all she cared..She wanted to just make haste before she blurted out something which could jeopardize the marriage itself. Ananya nudged Khushi and introduced her would be brother in law Aman who was sitting next to Arnav. Arnav was introduced to the two girls. Both raised their brows in awe after knowing it was the very reclusive Arnav Singh Raizada who was in front of them. Khushi decided to avoid this power pack altogether. He was in league of his own and she was no way near him to be vengeful. Let bygones be bygones she thought. His gaze on her was sending shivers down her spine. His chocolate brown eyes were very piercing . He was very handsome. And the demeanor. She had never seen anyone like that in Lakshminagar. May be her Salman Khan was like this in real life. There was some strange powerful aura about this man. She darted her eyes for one final time at him and almost stumbling with that tray and drawing enough attention ran from there. She knew he must have smirked one more time.
