Never say die?
It has now been proved, beyond doubt, that even the devastating blasts couldn't bring the hustle-bustle of Mumbai to a halt. The trains may not have been so packed, the traffic not so choc-a-bloc and the streets not so crowded following that terrible Tuesday, but offices and schools remained open and were near full. And for this, we have to salute the undefeatable spirit of Mumbai. However, hosting a launch party or a press conference on schedule, a day after the deadly explosions, is taking things a bit too far. One would have expected the organisers to show some sensitivity as a mark of respect to the dead, the countless injured and the devastated families. Yet, STAR One went ahead with the flag off PC of Naya Office Office "in keeping with the spirit of Mumbai". And Brij Katyal celebrated the 'homecoming' of Peshawari fare at Caravan Serai with an array of telly stars which included Neena Gupta, Kanwaljeet and Rakhi Tandon. We are not being wet blankets but well, isn't this over-simplifying the city's never-say-die attitude?
