The first five days passed away swiftly.Geet had finally agreed to be serious about her academics which brought Maan relief to a certain extent.As usual she used to accompany him to office whenever there was some urgent work for him.Although she used to carry her books along,she used to just gaze at him whenever she had chance, hiding her face behind the book. It was not like Maan was lenient with her,he proved to be her hardest taskmaster but still she didn't know why but she loved him more when he was angry.As the days came by, she also noticed that sometimes Maan would get all tensed up,behaving queer...but she took it all as a part of his profession...
It was around 10'o clock at night when Geet was trying to understand some business-related terms.Firstly it was a fat book which was to be finally finished by her but the last words of the book spolit the cake.After eyeing the word for sometime,she thought it better to ask Maan about it. She called up Maan letting him know of her misery.
"...and when everything seems right, the climax turns into anti-climax!" she snorted
"All right, all right i understood your grief.I am coming there.Mark those words properly!" said Maan.
But it was not in Geet's destiny to finish the book that day itself because when Maan sat down to explain her, the lights went off suddenly.There was lightening in the sky coupled with the roar of clouds. It indicated that rain was not far to come.
"See this! i told you na,when I want to really study then everything goes wrong!" grumbled Geet.
"Look who is talking!!!I thought you will junp in joy for having a perfect excuse!!!" said Maan with an air of sarcasm
"As if you will let me do that!!"
"Yeah you are right!" he said ,"By the way,you can obviously bring a candle to complete your study!" he tried his best to really mean what he had said.
Though Maan had said it with full composure, the word 'candle' seemed to bring the pinkish colour in Geet's cheeks.She began to associate it with various romantic liaisons in her mind.Putting all those 'love' thoughts aside,she went to hunt for a candle.
The candle was lit but with that the atmosphere had dramatically changed. It was now not at all a 'serious-study' moment but something way to different than that!. Maan noticed that day by day Geet was turning more & more beautiful.The shape of her brows,the gleam of her eyes ,slight moving of her thin eyelashes as she blinked, the colour of her soft skin,the curve of her soft rosy lips..everything began to register in his heart & mind under the more profound feeling of love.He watched her intently as she made futile attempts to read her book.His gaze, which had suddenly changed with the inning of the candle,was making her conscious to bits. Maan felt her shyness,her uneasiness but that made her presence more enjoyable to him.He rested back in his chair with his lips parting in an impish smile.
His intense gazing at her was suddenly invaded by the noise of windows crashing against each other & within no time they could her the pitter-patter of the rain as it touched the ground.
Geet at once rushed to the window & looked outside.So there was a good rainfall after days of disappointing trailers,she thought. The breeze was blowing with speed but in a friendly manner calling out to the humans to enjoy the offering from the sky & Geet did just that!.
She nimbled up the staircase to the terrace with Maan following her telling her to stop.
"Geet,rukh jao.It's raining heavily,don't go outdoors...Geet!" but Geet did not listen.
"Oh Come on Maan Sir!,you too can come in the rain!,no restrictions!!" said Geet,gleefully.
But Maan stood right at the door of the terrace near the stairs while Geet twirled around enjoying the rain.Maan feared that she would feel giddy but she did not.He just kept staring at her all the time with his mind all blank as if his senses had gone for a toss.He felt as though someone had taken away his senses & had told him to just follow her with his eyes wherever she moved. Geet once again called out to him to join her but he refrained thinking that he would miss out to her lovely expressions. Geet was hurt,but she resolved to get Maan out in the rain!.
Geet looked in his direction with playful eyes mingled with shyness. Suddenly rain seemed more romantic than otherwise to her.The way Maan was looking at her, made her emotions run high & her heart beat faster.She wanted to cuddle in his arms,make love to him in the rain.Sensuality seemed to knock her heart.But there he was still standing at the door & not coming up to her.She didn't want to force him,that would spoil the beauty of everything,she wanted him to walk up to her himself.
"Geet..." Maan called out ,"Come back, you will catch cold..." he said in a weak voice.
"Okay...then you come over here,then I might think of listening to you." she said with exuberance
Maan knew that Geet wouldn't listen to him.He at once went indoors & fetched an umbrella.Then he went towards her.He took her inside the umbrella & their eyes locked.Drops of water were trickling down her jovial face.He slowly moved his hand to touch her face .His placed his palm on her cheeks.She closed her eyes to feel him.His touch was more magical . Maan was in a fix.
"Geet...your eyes tell me what I want to hear...why not your voice.." he told himself.
Suddenly there was a strong wind & the umbrella blew away & landed in the ground.Maan clutched her hand,tugging her behind him & headed indoors.But Geet did not walk.Maan turned around to look at her.
"Please wait...Maan Sir" she said shyly.Then she slowly walked closer to him.Maan watching her with awe & surprise.He didn't know what she was about to do.She stood very close to him that he could feel her breathe.Geet then stood slightly on her toes, placing her hand on his shoulder reaching upto his cheeks & to Maan amazement she touched his cheeks with her soft & delicate lips,kissing him.Maan was surprised & ecstatic.This was the first time she kissed him on her own..He looked at her.Even the rain failed to wash the crimson colour on her face.She shifted her gaze to the ground while her lips parted in a slight smile.Maan still gazed at her wide-eyed not believing that she had kissed him.
Then she picked up the umbrella & handed it over to him.They walked indoors. There was err silence.Geet again felt nervous.She didn't know from where did she get enough courage to kiss him.She did not look at him,wondering what will he say now.
"Go & change, you will catch cold.." Maan handed her the night suit.
Geet did so & ushered into the room.Maan looked at her.Her hair was still wet.She looked seductive.She took a towel & started to wipe her hair. She was very startled hen Maan suddenly grabbed her by her arm & pinned her to the wall.
"I can't believe you kissed me as I always take the initiative.." he said with a smirk.
Geet didn't dare to look at him.Her heart was thundering as he moved her fingers from her waist to her shoulders.
"Please let me go..."
"I won't!"he said firmly
"Please let me go..." she repeated her words
"Enough Geet Enough!!!! I am tired of this hide and seek!I want to know what exactly goes on in your mind! Kabhi tum kuch nahi batati!!" said Maan as he tightened his grip around her wounding her with his looks.
"Maan please..."
"No please!Now you are to tell me what exactly is in your mind...or perhaps your heart.."
Geet missed a beat hearing that."I-I d-don't have anything to say..." she did not look at him
"Fine!!!! I am going !!!!happy!!!!" he was angry & hurt. Maan started going from there.
Geet was shocked.She didn't mean to hurt him.She stopped him,clutching his hand & blurted out.
"I Love You Maan!!Please don't leave me like this!!"
Maan stopped.His heart missed a beat.Did his ears hear those words?.He turned around to look at her.Geet felt her blood turn warm .She gazed at the floor as Maan came near her.
"W-What did you say just now?"
"I Love You...Maan" saying that she hugged him tightly.Maan had never felt so light & happy in his life before.He hugged her in return.Both of them felt complete in each others arms.They felt as though time had stopped for them to be like that forever.The journey from haters to lovers had been not less than unique.It was not as though they just fell in love but there was always an unusual & enigmatic attraction which they had chosen to ignore...
"Geet do you even know how much I love you..."
Geet just stared at him While he inched very close to her...
"So tell me who won the challenge?" Maan asked with a smirk.
"I won that's for sure..."
"Really?" he smiled impishly.
Maan pulled her closer to him.He lowered his face to here.But just when his lips were about to touch hers,she moved her face away.Maan was startled.He pretended to be angry. Geet moved closer to him making him feel that she really wanted him to do it.She closed her eyes & simultaneously they kissed.The feel of his lips,the caress of his mouth was indeed passionate.She uttered a low moan...they were too slow to part from each other...
