Shreyas Talpade who shot to fame after his role as Iqbal in Nagesh Kuknoor's movie 'Iqbal' has indeed proved his acting prowess through this character of a dumb and deaf boy, but the upcoming star who has most of the industry vouching for his acting talent has his feet grounded in the earth, "Any role that I portray is most difficult for me." He adds, "I believe every role that Mr. Amitabh Bachchan plays is a difficult role and has me thinking whether I would be able to play something like that," chuckles the talented actor.
Kanchi Kaul who plays the simple and down to earth girl Ananya Sachdev in 'Ek Ladki Anjaani Si'and also is acclaimed as one of the most talented actresses on the small screen feels that Rani Mukherjee's role in the movie Black was a tough character to play. "Rani's character in Black is very different, it has many layers, and it is not what you are generally accustomed to doing as an actor."
Although there are people like Shreyas and Kanchi who assosciate themselves with the bold performances there are also others like Sangeeta Ghosh, the sultry siren of the small screen who plays the main lead in the prime time show Viraasat on Star Plus. She feels that enacting challenging roles is something you can still master yourself at, but what is tougher is playing oneself. She is one of those people who prefers to keep herself a mystery to her audience. Sangeeta says, "I never perceive any role to be tough. However playing 'myself' would be the most difficult character, as I wouldn't want the world to know about myself. I would like to remain as a mystery to people," avers Sangeeta Ghosh.
Maninee De finds the character Ragini that she plays in Twinkle Beauty Parlour as one of the toughest roles that she has played so far. "It was an emotionally draining character. In fact my director had given me a compliment saying 'It takes a very intelligent person to play a dumb character'." She further adds, "Also I look at every role as a challenge," opines the Maninee.
Horror scenes need exceptional acting skills along with equal expressions to bring the zing in the character. Urmila Matondkar has definitely proved her ability to do a variety of roles and she proved it with her spectacular performance in the movie Bhoot. In fact it is said that after Bhoot, Urmila had to go on a self-imposed exile, where she needed to recuperate and then get back to acting.
Even Esha Deol, who is still to prove herself as an actress, said she felt drained after shooting for Ankahee, where she played the other woman.
Narayani Shastri who played Tashu in KKusum and Rimjhim in Piya Ka Ghar says that she would find horror scenes difficult to enact. Now that's what we call an honest reply by an actress who is well known for her acting skills in the telly world.
Mohnish Behl who has shifted from the big screen to the small screen can now be spotted in 'Ek Ladki Anjani Si' in Sony Tv. Mohnish says, "I haven't come across any difficult role yet." On a second thought he adds, "A role that isn't well written would be difficult to play." Now that's definitely a smart and valid answer.
