Some 'power' dressing this!

With Pawan Kalyan all set to launch a clothing line this Sunday, Hyderabad Times takes you through the Power Star's sartorial evolution

Jemima Margaret Eliot

It's happening for the first time in Tollywood. Finally, a T-Town star gets to have a line of clothing in his name — complete with autographed Tshirts and all the jazz. While the younger T-Towners are known for their snazzy dress sense, none of them seem to have caught the eye of young moviegoers or influenced them as much as Pawan Kalyan.
Neelima Tirumalasetty, an avid fan who turned producer with "Panjaa" says, "For us fans, it is not just about copying Pawan's style, it is all about his attitude and ideology. It's Pawanism," she declares.
Revealing a secret, Rajesh Mori, Pawan's personal designer says, "Till "Komaram Puli" Pawan had been designing his own clothes. Pawan is an avid traveller and he was his own stylist. While visiting fashion hotspots like Milan, he picks up his outfits. He has always been two seasons ahead in terms of couture."
The Power Star is well known to be experimental in his sartorial choices over the years. While the "Johnny" Tshirts, bandanas, armbands and caps were a rage in 2003, he followed it up with the double pants — literally wearing two pants — in "Gudumba Shankar" and then went on to design the "Balu" pants with their humongous pockets that every youngster wanted in his wardrobe. His wardrobe in his recent BO outings — "Puli", "Theen Maar", "Panjaa" — went on to make a fashion statement, with Hyderabadis wearing "Theen Maar" hoodies, Pawan-style, no matter what the weather. His latest film "Gabbar Singh" too created ripples not just at the BO. No, we are not talking about the police outfit fiasco, but the current rage — Gabbar denims!
