It was a last minute decision on Saif's part to do Cocktail. He originally signed Imran to do the role. Imran even shot for a couple of days, but I guess Homi the director wasnt satisfied. At the last minute, Saif replaced Imran.

In all his ohter films, Saif is playing his own age.

Race 2, Go Goa Gone, and even Judwaa 2.

But yeah, i'm not thrilled about Saif's characte'rs age in Cocktail. Though I love him, but disappointed. 🥱

@Desigal90: Saif did not sign Imran, Dinesh did for a film he wanted to produce solo, without Saif. In some turn of events Siaf landed into the film as a producer and main lead.

saif does absolute justice to what ever age he is playing on screen. I think this guy has a fabulous dressing sense, never tries too hard or too much on your face like srk. I guess saif still can be believed to play a late 20's role. Amir to some extent, he nailed it in 3-idiots but other than them, salman and especially srk cannot look in that age group no matter how hard they try. And my advise to srk, seriously stop trying. Even in the stills of his upcoming with kat, he clearly looks no less than his actual age!
