Aamir trumps IPL! | ||
The first indicative ratings ofSatyamev Jayate are out. Aamir Khan's TV debut ' the first episode of which created waves since its telecast last Sunday ' has earned an average TVR (television viewer rating) of 3.8, higher than the IPL 5 ratings (based on figures after the first 16 matches) that stood at 3.65 at the end of April. The mid-week report, which reflects only key data from the bigger Indian cities, pegged the three-metro (Delhi-Mumbai-Calcutta) viewership at 5.7 points, with Delhi on top at 6.5, followed by Mumbai at 5.7 and Calcutta at 2.8. Across six metros, including Chennai, Bangalore and Hyderabad, the average TVR of Satyamev Jayate stood at 2.9. The first episode, which focused on female foeticide and caused a stir across the country, also managed to dislodge soaps like Sony's Bade Achche Lagte Hai and Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai from the top of the charts. Though the real picture will emerge a week later when the full numbers are announced, Aamir can take heart from the fact that TV toppers like Balika Vadhu and Uttaran had posted similar figures in their first episode, with their popularity subsequently improving week after week.
