Chapter One
'I love you Khushi Kumari Gupta Singh Raizada'
Those were the very words that had had her in a pensive daze for the past 30 minutes, knowing full well that the eyes of said person had yet to leave her since.
Just like Diwali
His gaze never faltered, even while his family, who now surrounded him, took it in turns to express their concern and gratitude; fawning over him. He walked around; those hideous gashes marring his flawless features, his every look burning her; making her stomach churn. Those looks said it all
I want you... I need you
She couldn't stop. She couldn't tear her eyes away from him. She could feel her cheeks, her ears, her whole body colouring violently. Her heart - clutching at it would do her no good today. No. this time, she could barely even hear anyone or anything above the brutal thuds of her treacherous heart. She could feel it everywhere; throughout her whole body, as if it was trying to escape and land right into its owner's threshold.
Dhak, dhak
Yes. She belonged to him now. It was clear, imprinted on to her very soul, plain for everyone to see. Did she care? Not at all. Why? Because her husband, Arnav Singh Raizada, loved her.

He didn't know what he had been thinking when he said those words. Thinking? He wasn't thinking at all. He didn't have to. He had wronged her in so many ways; he had torn her to shreds, crushing her spirits time after time. No more would she have to fight. He was with her now... and he wasn't ever going to leave. No Tom, Dick or Shyam could ever prevent this now. The thought of Shyam had him clenching his bloodied fist as he felt the anger seep through him. 'Calm' he thought to himself, 'not now... your family needs you. She needs you'
Yes, he was glad to see his family and he could understand that they were so happy, so thankful and so concerned. But right now, he just needed to be with her. His wife.
After she had had embraced him, she had been swept to the side while his Di, Naniji and everyone else, launched themselves at him, attacking him with a barrage of questions, of which he was in no mood to answer considering his wounds were now threatening to burst under the continuous throbbing pressure.
'Chote! Yeh kya hua tumhe?!'
'Hey Bhagwan... Tera lakh lakh shukar hai'
He was barely listening. Everything was a haze as he sought her out amongst everyone. She was standing there, as if in some sort of trance - her animated expressions had come to a halt while she just stared at him. Her eyes full of relief, anguish... desire.
He couldn't take this anymore. He took those few painful steps, covering the distance between them and took her delicate, shaking hand in his blistered one. He looked straight into those expressive eyes he had been yearning to see for the past 2 weeks and felt that final wall around his stone heart come crashing down. Giving the rest of his family a silent nod, he turned towards the stairs with Khushi behind him; maneuvering her through the living room... and up to their room.
