I think Shiv, like Anandi, derives from a rural family and was, in his early childhood, a potential victim of Bal Vivah. However, he might have managed to escape this awful traditional customs by leaving the family. He probably had a hard life at that time. It is possible that he had to earn for a living and study at he same time (because he now looks like an indipendent person). Maybe he has also made his name on account of the fact that he has realized how detrimental some of the customs are and cathegorically resisted them (the scene with girl widow at the mela i.e. fair). As for his parents, I suppose he lost contact with them and I imagine that Anandi will have a hard time trying to make his family come to terms with his son but, in the end I am sure she will succeed in that mission.Who is his family? Rich or poor? Do they will accept Anadni as their bride or will be like the Shyam 3 years ago when he married without the permission Suguna?

I think Shiv is adopted son of doctor family from Mumbai who saved Anandi's life when she was child.š
