this question?

when the phsychiotrist was talking about the mind of a pedophyle...he mentioned that during a seminar he was lecturing in... a 13 yr old girl asked him " should we respect our elders?"...do you all remember the answer to that question?...i thought it was one of the highlight of the episode...not at all what you are used to hearing in Indian society (and others too)...šŸ˜‰

dis question really was one of the highlights of the show...and its answer..."We should respect the behaviours of the elders not themselves" if their behaviour is respectful...then only we should respect them..This is a lesson all children of today's world and even adults should keep in mind.

@ sweetpoorvi ...yes...i was shocked when the doc said a loud "NO"...as an asnwer to the girl's question...and then i loved how he added..."you should respect behaivior"...and when aamir adds "we should respect good behavior irrespective of age" i thought that was good too...my only hope is that every parent watching teaches this to their children...šŸ‘

I totally agree with this and I realized that I have been practising to respect elders only for their behaviour and not for their age all my life but stil I felt guilty when I realized that I have been telling my 7 year old son that it is our duty to respect elders.

@ Viji79 ...i guess a lot of today's parents face this dilemma...what exactly to tell the children?...the show is a great source of inforamtion for parents with little ones...no time like the present to change the advice...

He said.NO, I was very happy at the.moment
Respect has to.be earnt no matter what age
If someone is treating with you with no manners and utter disgrace you shouldn't bow down to that
Nice post Syl

@ affy...yes for me it was a very important part of the show...rules cannot be made with clarifications...one can say respect the elders..but one must also say...but don't think that they can do what ever they want with you...there are limits and exceptions to every rule...

p.s. nice to see you here affy!

That's what I always say and everybody in my family thinks I am ill mannered and what not. Your action can deserve respect and so can your words. But your age doesn't earn you respect. In our society elder treat respect like their birth right and think that giving younger respect will somehow diminish their so called "honour". They don't think that mutual respect is necessary. They are alien to the concept that you need to earn respect. Behave and speak properly and do right things and people will automatically respect you.
