On a 'giga' scale

With the Charan-Upasna wedding just a month away, preparations are in full swing for the big day

Imported chandeliers, crystal ware from London, a food court with Balinese-themed decor, a celeb-studded guest list, foolproof swipe card invitations — that's just a small peek into the largescale preparations that are underway for the 'mega' wedding of Ram Charan Tej and Upasna Kamineni, slated for June 14.
According to highly reliable sources, both the Mega and Apollo families are keen on showcasing the wedding as the "marriage of the decade" and no expenses are being spared for the event, which will have guests from across the globe. The list includes film stars, political bigwigs and business tycoons. There's speculation that Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi too will be attending this wedding, apart from the Bachchans. The Apollo family, we learn, is looking at pictures of the British Royal Wedding for ideas. "The centrally airconditioned venue will be done up mostly in white, adorned with crystal dcor imported from UK and chandeliers from China. While the mandap will be done up in traditional style, the food courts will have the Balinese look," reveals a source. Art director Anand Sai, a close associate of Chiranjeevi, we learn, is designing the wedding venue at Upasna's farmhouse and also the venue for the reception that Chiru is hosting on the night of the wedding day.
And this time around, the security for the wedding and other ceremonies is going to be foolproof and outsiders will not even be able to get a glimpse of the goings on inside. "Both families are taking utmost care when inviting guests. There were a few security lapses at the time of the engagement. Uninvited guests, who managed to procure a swipe card, were able to find their way in, but with this new hi-tech swipe card, impersonators using other people's invitations will get detected," reveals our source, forewarning the Sneaking Toms.
