Two things really stood out in this episode - One being the child helpline they highlighted. There is no point in bringing out such topics but giving people no means of getting any help. Many children undergoing abuse may identify with what was discussed in the show but would be clueless on what to do next, how to deal with things if they don't have the courage to face their parents - knowing that dialing a simple 4 digit number could put an end to their pain could give so many children the courage to reach out.
Secondly, the workshop Aamir did with the kids was fantastic. Children, no matter how young need to understand the concept of not letting other people touch them inappropriately. The workshop wonderfully demonstrated how easy it is to teach your child to understand what can be called abuse and take steps to stop it immediately. With very young children being abused it is so important to teach them to know what to do in such scenarios. It was great how Aamir started the workshop with a simple differentiation between right and wrong and then went onto explain in simple terms how the kids should identify inappropriate behaviors and what they should do. It was also lovely how Aamir involved the kids asking them questions and letting them identify who the person is they can trust and tell everything to.
I must applaud Aamir Khan for really making a well thought out and well executed show. It appears to be a very honest and genuine attempt to deal with issues that our society chooses to brush under the carpet. And not only are these issues coming into light but they are also giving us hope that things can improve in the future if we all take the steps we need to RIGHT NOW...👏
