What really makes this show brilliant

Having just watched the second episode of this show I am really compelled to make this post. Aamir Khan has truly made a brave attempt to bring some very grave topics to light but what is brilliant is how the topics being dealt with are not just a big fat lecture on what is wrong, the show is trying to go beyond that and help people NOW.

Two things really stood out in this episode - One being the child helpline they highlighted. There is no point in bringing out such topics but giving people no means of getting any help. Many children undergoing abuse may identify with what was discussed in the show but would be clueless on what to do next, how to deal with things if they don't have the courage to face their parents - knowing that dialing a simple 4 digit number could put an end to their pain could give so many children the courage to reach out.

Secondly, the workshop Aamir did with the kids was fantastic. Children, no matter how young need to understand the concept of not letting other people touch them inappropriately. The workshop wonderfully demonstrated how easy it is to teach your child to understand what can be called abuse and take steps to stop it immediately. With very young children being abused it is so important to teach them to know what to do in such scenarios. It was great how Aamir started the workshop with a simple differentiation between right and wrong and then went onto explain in simple terms how the kids should identify inappropriate behaviors and what they should do. It was also lovely how Aamir involved the kids asking them questions and letting them identify who the person is they can trust and tell everything to.

I must applaud Aamir Khan for really making a well thought out and well executed show. It appears to be a very honest and genuine attempt to deal with issues that our society chooses to brush under the carpet. And not only are these issues coming into light but they are also giving us hope that things can improve in the future if we all take the steps we need to RIGHT NOW...👏

Great post Deepshadow. I agree. The show has been executed really well. From bringing the issues to light, to bringing people who have gone through this to make it relatable to the audience. And then providing solutions to the problems. Things we can do easily.

I really hope the child abuse issue really bring active changes in our societies and laws and prevents more children from becoming victims.
