It was a calm & serene night.Maan lay wide awake staring up at the ceiling.Sleep occured to be a distant dream.He still couldn't get rid of the image of Geet in the sari who was currently occupying the adjacent room.There was still five weeks left for their marriage & it seemed to him as centuries.He wanted to make her his as soon as possible.His entire perception towards marriage had changed in these two months.Geet was just the perfect life partner for him,one in a million,he admitted.Earlier it was just a mere deal to be the owner of KC but now the deal had become his life.He tried to sleep as they had to get up early next day.
Geet suddenly woke up from her deep sleep somewhere close to midnight.It had never happened to her before,she wondered.Perhaps she was missing her own room,she thought.She tried to sleep again but she felt fresh.She opened the window to inhale some cool air.She noticed that the sky was full of stars that night.She had never seen so many stars before.She was excited.She wanted to just go outside & have herself below the sky.
She stepped out of the room.She peeped in Maan's room.He was asleep.Her heart missed a beat seeing him.Her eyes just wanted to keep looking at him all the while but then she had made a prior commitment with the stars.She sailed outside the house.It was dark with no one around.She felt a little scared but she really wanted to view the stars.She decided to wake Maan up.
She again tiptoed into his room & sat beside him.She started by calling his name slowly & softly but he was not responding.Then she got impatient & called him in a very high pitch & neverthe less Maan woke up with a start.
"Who?What?Where?Those clients are important...Adi!!" he was blabbering
"Maan,my name is Geet"
"You!!!" he cleared his vision ,"What are you doing here this time?"
"Look at the sky there are so many stars,let's go outside & see them clearly!" she said in an excited tone.
But Maan was least interested, "Please yaar Geet!There is a lot of work to be done tomorrow!"
Saying that he was going to sleep again but Geet was adamant.Finally Maan had had to give in to her demands.They walked outside with Maan yawning.Then Geet pointed at a certain distance & said
"See,there is a hillock there!We can go up there.It seems to be bright on top!"
"Are you sure,it is far away!"he said,yawning
"Yes Yes,ab chaliye."
They started walking.Geet showed more enthusiasm.Maan was happy seeing her.Now he was fully awake.He found himself foolish to have had refused her before.
Maan & Geet were both panting once they reached at the top of the hillock.Together they fell down in the green grass breathing heavily to vent out their tiredness.They looked up at the sky,it was indeed a very beautiful sight.It was quite bright out there,they could easily see each other.
"God! I did not know that the hill would be so far...it seemed so near from there!"
"I told you but you did not listen..." he paused, "But you were right,it's indeed a starry night."
"Whoa! Seems like someone is agreeing with me for the first time ever!I must pat my back!" he teased him.
"Ofcourse you should!" he teased her in return.
After sometime when the tiredness had left their body,Geet popped herself up in one elbow & saw that Maan had been staring at her.This made her a little nervous but she sensed that she couldn't take her eyes off him once their eyes locked.The atmosphere scremt romance & every word related to it.He looked more handsome in starlight.Lying close to him,she noticed for the first time the extreme depth of his eyes, the shape of his eye-brows & his lips were even more luscious than before...Slipping her gaze a little down she saw that his shoulders were quite muscular than she had thought.His chest was almost shinning in the moonlight.
"Seems as though you sweat a lot in the gym!" she teased, reaching down to place her hands oon his chest...she slowly began to unbutton his shirt to explore his well toned body.She did not know what she was doing...she was lost completely in him. Just when the last four buttons were remaining & she was about to touch his abs,Maan suddenly caught her hand startling her.
When she looked into his eyes,his expression was intense,like killer.For a second,she thought that he was very angry with her but just within a fraction of a second before she could react,he yanked her to him and covered her mouth with his in a very passionate & hungry kiss, she too responded immediately which surprised herself.His mouth was warm,the caress of his lips were softer & sensual that she had ever imagined.He tasted her passionately with his tongue & Geet opened her mouth to utter a soft moan & placed her hand sensually on his shoulder which triggered him even more.He kissed her even more deeply.Geet too responded in the same manner.They were so much lost into each other's desire that they hardly knew what they were doing...
Suddenly Maan pushed her away, horrorstruck.He jumped off the grass totally stunned at what they had done.
"I-I am sorry Geet...that wasn't right..." he said in a broken & shaky voice.
"It's okay..." she gazed at the ground and avoided looking at him.She ceased to understand how to react.Everything happened so suddenly that she didn't know whether to be happy or sad.She wanted this to happen,didn't she?.She did not know whether to feel joyful for their phenomenal kiss or tearful at Maan's repentance..She again heard him saying
"Jo bhi hua...galat hua.." still in a horrified voice...
Geet wondered if his heart ws beating as fast as hers...The desire which she had held for so long in her had,in a way,got fulfilled...she was his now forever & ever,,,,whether he accepted it or not...
"Geet,I--" he turned around to look at her but was surprised to see her asleep."So gayi!!!?".He looked at.Her face had an unusual shine of calmness.She displayed no signs of anxiety.So did she have no problems with their kiss?Did she hold the same feelings which he held for her?.Numerous question were making rounds in his mind.
He carried her way to the house & placed her in the room slowly.Then he went to his room.He had calmed down now.There was no need to feel tensed,to feel guilty of what he had done.After all he was not going to betray her as he had thought at the time of hearing the will,never!.It didn't matter to him now how the statistics stood before,what was important now that he wanted her in his life with all his heart & mind.He easily convinced himself.He felt an inner satisfaction within.Whatever happened was not wrong,but it was the best thing which could have ever happened to him. He felt committed towards her.
The next day dawned.Geet woke up first.She felt as if she was going to start a new life henceforth.Their first kiss still burning fresh in her memories.She saw that Maan was still sleeping.She decided to get the petrol filled first & then wake Maan up.She forgot her purse on the table.It was open...
Maan heard the honking of the car outside.He saw that Geet was waiting for him in the car.He didn't know what to say to her.Anyways,he thought it better to just check the rooms again incase they had left anything behind. His eyes fell on Geet's purse.He took it & was just about to leave the room when an envelop trickled out & fell on the floor.He picked it & learned that it contained an airline ticket.He was surprised.He was just about to see the name written when Geet came & took it away from him.
"Come on,we are getting late" said Geet while putting the envelop back in the purse.
"Are you going somewhere?This airline ticket--"
Geet interrupted him,"A-Actually my friend is going to Goa so..."
"But why you have her ticket?" asked Maan surprised
"I booked a seat on her behalf...i was supposed to give it to her before we came her but i forgot...now let it be,we will be late,lets leave!"
Geet went out quickly.Maan followed her doubtfully.
