Na Bole Tum Na Maine Kuch Kaha….Phir Aakhir Kehna Kyun Pada?

Written by Swati Ghosh

Author's Note: "Sach toh yeh hai ki mai pyaar tumse karta hoon Megha." The pre-cap and the promo very clearly suggest that Mohan's confession is on its way. I came across two opposing points of view in the forums regarding the promo; one group who thought it was the right time for Mohan to confess whilst the other felt it was still too early for confession and that there are lots of underlying issues which could have been explored prior to the moment.

As per the existing storyline, "I love you" may be the need of the hour, but as an ardent viewer of the show, I have a completely different take regarding this entire confession scene.

"Na Bole Tum Na Maine Kuch Kaha" is unconventional to me for various reasons. The obvious one is that it's a love story of a widow with two kids and a bachelor. Mohan, the lead male protagonist is unlike any Hero of Hindi Television. The look and feel of the show reminds me of filmmakers like Hrishikesh Mukherjee and Basu Chatterjee, who said simple yet impactful stories. In addition to these, the title too plays a very important role; it revealed the very essence of Mrs. Vyas and Mohan's relationship, even before the show had premiered.

The title was taken from a classic song"Na Bole Tum Na Maine Kuch Kaha,"and the line that always gripped my attention was "ki pyaar ke bina kahe sune hi baat ho gayi." As the story progressed, I realised that 'subtlety' is the middle name for Megha and Mohan's relationship. Often without saying a word, as the title suggests, they managed to connect and convey their thoughts to one another and the makers too have portrayed those subtle nuances beautifully. So why have words become so essential today?

Mohan's confession is bound to put Megha in a dilemma since presently she does not consider him to be more than a friend. On the other hand, as a viewer I would have cherished if Megha had slowly felt drawn towards Mohan and fallen in love with him during the course of Amar's case (where she notices Mohan from close quarters and his interactions with her children and family, who are of utmost importance to her). Meanwhile we could have also witnessed an angst-ridden Mohan Bhatnagar trying hard to conceal his feelings from Megha whiles filled with the fear of losing her.

"Just when I thought that love could never be a part of me, that's when you came along and showed me happiness!" ~ Elvin.

I for one would have loved Mohan's actions and Jeeji Bua's words of wisdom to drive Megha to realize, comprehend and finally accept Mohan's love for her without having him speak his heart out. It would have been amazing to see Megha feel sorry for her obliviousness to Mohan's feelings, whilst realizing that all this while Mohan chose to selflessly love her in silence, because in silence he found no rejection. Finally, it would be a breathtaking moment when Megha decides to reciprocate Mohan's feelings; but he instantly stops her from saying anything as he can then see it in her eyes. For me that moment of silence would have not only captured the essence of their relationship but also justified the title "Na Bole Tum Na Maine Kuch Kaha" because "the best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched. They must be felt with the heart" ~Helen Keller.

There is no denying the fact that saying I love you is extremely important in any relationship, but I wish the makers had avoided this clich route for Mohan and Megha. They are destined to be together and at the end of the day, their hearts will bond and beat as one.

Since the love track is about to be jumpstarted with Mohan's confession tonight, it will be interesting to watch how the makers of the show salvage the significance of the title with respect to Megha-Mohan's relationship. Nevertheless, I will continue to watch the show with the same amount of love and passion, as long as there is logical progression in the story and I am able to connect with the characters.

Please feel free to speak your mind out as to what you think of the upcoming confession of Mohan.
