The Ashwarya/Ankita conundrum

Where was Ashwarya Majumdar? Why wasn't she performing in final 22 after being selected? Those are the questions on people's minds at the moment. I don't know the answer to the first one, but I have a possible explanation for the second.

Ashwarya was replaced by Ankita Dixit. Ankita Dixit, who was not originally selected for final 22. Now, there is one thing you should know. Ankita is from Kanpur, the same place where Abhijeet is from. And Abhijeet was the one who picked her into final 40. But when the selections for final 22 were going on, Abhijeet wasn't there - Alka and Bappi were. Abhijeet came back for final 22 round, and so did Ankita.

It gets even murkier. After her final 22 performance, Abhijeet remarked, "Aapke gaane se hi lagta hai ki aap Kanpur se ho". Note - he focused on the fact that she was from Kanpur. He did not bring up any other contestants' region. Also, Ankita's performance was a point for a strong argument between Abhijeet and Alka. Abhijeet felt her performance was very good, but Alka was unhappy with it. They ultimately ended up passing sarcastic comments towards each other.

Now - it's pretty clear that Abhijeet favored Ankita. The question is - did he push for her inclusion in final 22, arguing that the decision was made when he was not there, and he felt she deserved to be? And Gajji had to bow to one of his judge's demands. The fall girl was Ashwarya - who, by the way, was an Alka pick into final 40.

Then again, it could simply be that Ashwarya pulled out due to sickness or other personal reasons, and I'm simply reading too much into this. But if that was the case, then shouldn't they announce the change in contestant, with reasons, rather than keep quiet and hope no one would notice? That's what makes it seem fishy.

Thanks for bringing it up Shady. I think that Ankita was in an earlier
children's series as well. But most probably Aishwarya had to drop out for
personal reasons.

If anyone has any contacts at Zee -- like vinit 1242, maybe they can clarify
it.
