Thor and G are both very likable. A mole...hmm, and Thor did mention this would be bad for Maan. Did Geet know about the agency before her memory loss? Did Maan tell someone how to access?

Done with 1 and 2...a refreshing story...as all of yours are...

When you mentioned your dedication, my mind went back to the separation at the end...will we see one here too?

I am again amazed by your characters. Maan - the hard and strong guy - no emotions on his face. While Geet an innocent girl lost in the incident - I am sure its just that bit hard for people in these kinds of real situations..

Maan watches her for hours on end and she waits for something what she doesnt know...isnt it a kind of emptiness in both their hearts !

In part 3, Maan makes me think of a real normal guy wooing a girl for a date when he punches his fist in the air...I can see this scene like a slow movie LOL

Thor...are you by chance having the Avengers fever? 😆I am amazed at this uber chic Delilah...whoa..aint she coool 😉

The pictures are memories so far off from present...I feel typically sad when I read Maan looking at them.

You mentioned a "sharp streak of red line that disappeared into the side parting of her hair." - in Indian sense, I dont know if they have such roots - is this the mark of a married woman?

By the end of the update, I am sad for all of them involved voluntarily or involuntarily with the incident and each other's lives...its tough to be chosen to be in their shoes...

I prefer reading your updates when I have lots of time and a free mind...else I dont get the essence that you try to convey and end up missing a lot in a hurry...

Geet feels a betrayal and thats so natural. What she said abt the accidents with Dev surprised me. Is that Maan's little way of keeping him away from her...and Dev must love her much, not paying heed to these things since he might also have noticed this.I feel sad for Maan - she is so close yet he cant go to her. I imagine the amount of self control he has to exercise. On the other hand, she has a lot but yet that isnt enough.Not fair at all as the last chapter says...

Mole? I totally love how you have been describing the sequences...its so so professionally jargoned...😆

Good to know that she'll stay back for a while...

Part 6: When that is all you got...

Maan perched atop one corner of Thor's desk and titled his head back from wanting to keep his nose-bleed in check. His nose was already suffused with a thin stream of blood and had colored with a redness that was beginning to darken at the sides. From that same tilt of his head, he saw Giovanna rush inside the room, her hands cradling a bunch of supplies: scraps of bandage, wads of cotton and crushed, shiny medicinal strips.

Thor came in, followed by Arthur who was red in the face like the intruder had punched him and not Maan. Thor got right behind his desk in no time and began typing away, wading his way into the information super-highway of the endless crypt. It was protocol that he reviewed the key-logger files, now all the more necessary when they had no way to find what the John Doe had been behind. Intelligence reports would be out any minute, but this was routine, highly mandated and given that Thor was at the top of his ranks in crypto, Maan had been mildly surprised when Thor had left his desk and come out to meet him at the stairs. Maan had limped his way up, with Giovanna to his side the entire time and after an understood nod, Thor had followed them right behind when the other agents had rushed the opposite way to take control of the situation.

Arthur was about to speak as he fell into the lush of the leather couch by the wall, but Giovanna cut in sensing his need to speak. "Arthur, let him get himself looked at by a doctor first and then you can have your inquiry?"

Arthur sighed and waited. While Maan'd always remained aware, yet feigned ignorance of Arthur's tacit agreement for even her most unreasonable of demands he'd never made it a point to bring it up. Though it wasn't off-limits for Maan to explore that question in their presence, he simply wasn't the kind to acknowledge that she brought about a silent resignation in Arthur.

Giovanna was turning out to be the mother hen of the coop these days and Maan had no reaction to that. He needed the reprieve and much welcomed one at that when he thought his jaw was hanging loose from his skull every time he tried to open his mouth in an awkward funny way to get a feel of the injuries roguishly delivered by the John doe.

Looking from Arthur to Giovanna, he tipped his head to gaze back at the ceiling, the stark whiteness there reminding him of the white heat of the pain in his head, in the sharp tingles that were nearly numbing a part of his shoulder and yet shooting pain into his muscles around the back. Lord! he was going to need a sling at this rate for another week and that was if he hadn't broken a bone there. Else, it was going to be just the mundane monitoring desk job for another two months.

Giovanna placed herself in front of him and was picking at the cotton roll. Once she had a big enough wad in her hand, she rolled them in between her palms and held Maan's head and began stuffing them through his nose.

"Aargh...Careful..." The stuffed cotton made him sound like he'd a severe nasal congestion and she smiled at that, a small one despite the seriousness in her eyes.

"Art...I need a Visitors pass" Maan's eyes flickered open at her bizarre request and Giovanna was eying Arthur who in-turn was rubbing his forehead which was just about beginning to crease, his silver grey hair falling over his temples from the swift turn of his head

"A visitor's pass?" Arthur had a puzzled look and Thor came out of his cyber trance, looking up from the green scrolls of text that were running away into an abyss on his holographic screen and fell back in his chair with a studying gaze fixed on her.

"You might be forgetting G..." Thor said, typing his pen on his knuckles, "But, we don't run that kind of business here that has visitors and a visitors pass"

"Precisely" Giovanna turned while she was still rolling the cotton for his other nose. She said, shifting all her weight onto one leg and slightly tipping her neck backwards from that heavy attitude of hers and her one brow cocked high into her forehead, "But we do have a visitor amidst us and we all know how long lock downs last. It could be days before she sees the outside and you think she would survive without going mad in that room with all that white?...when the lack of color is meant to steal all dimensionality from the sharp corners of the room. The illusion would drive her crazy. She is no double agent or a target spy or an informant...Geet doesn't deserve it for all your protests, Maan"

She folded her arms and watched him, knowing too well it was only his assent that she was seeking and perhaps the only one who had any say in how this tiny situation in the face of the lock down was to be handled. If anything, he'd the most to lose and this everyone knew without his forced arguing which was as expected of him then.

For an insane moment, he could picture himself sitting there without raising so much as a grunt to Giovanna's proposal when the color of the white walls pressed against his mind's eyes, towering toward the sky and beyond. However, it was he who would be driven insane if she was going to be let to roam free as one among them. She would, no doubt, rattle him and have him shed his thick skin, his facade and lose control over even hackneyed small pleasures: a coffee, alone, or a growing urgency to just stumble upon a chance and grab a seat next to her; if he was indeed blessed, then perhaps a meal would come by and he could pass her the fork when his fingers would brush hers allowing him a soft touch of her skin...

A greying memory of a time long forgotten came gushing into his head, to make its presence known as he struggled to stay reactionless.

Carelessly falling into bed with him, she molded herself to every shape of his form and let her hand stroke his back - in the dip where his spine lengthened - while he held her. She spoke then, her voice low and husky from the slow rumble of satiation in her throat that came with spending a cool Tibetan afternoon alone, high atop a mountain of green mass and wilderness, where the winds spoke secrets in their whistles, of a love that coursed through secret couples sheltered naked under stolen sheets.

"I don't know...I feel I can always tell how you are doing when I'm this close to you...You have no secrets with me when I can hear the pulse on your skin...this touch...Promise..." She said asking for his hand. He languidly raised his palm and placed it over hers with a smile.

"Promise me, you will not leave...never be so far that I can't at least have my little finger resting on you" That moment, he'd taken her palm and folded all her fingers with the exception of the little finger and raised her pinky to his lips, making her smile before he'd said, "Yeah...promise you crazyhead..."

Shit! that was far more than he can handle and the heat in his skin multiplied, a sudden anger filling his eyes from realizing how easy it was to bait himself like that when it came to her.

He pulled down both the rolls of cotton from his nose and got off the table. Arthur raised his head to him and so did Thor.

"You can do all that is right in your view..." He said, in a strained whisper, "But you stay away from me G...stay away from my room. She stays by your side all the time and doesn't get to wander off into any zone within a 1 mile radius of my room"

"Is that understo..." He raised his left arm forgetfully to ascertain his statement with a severe hand gesture, when he let out a loud whimper for all to hear - a sharp pain climbed its way over his neck unto the sides and under his arm.

Giovanna caught him as he bent forward to catch his arm, right below the shoulder.

"Understood...but first we have to have a doctor look at you. None of this holds good until she gives you a clean health bill against broken bones and concussions..."

Maan looked up from the same position, speechless, nearly losing his mind at what she was suggesting to him. He realized, he was being set up right then by the Honeypot of their group.

"Common..." She sounded tired and Maan could guess that she did that to herself from her own devious little plans she hatched all the time in her head, "Don't tell me you forgot that we can't move between floors during a lock down..."

He'd indeed not taken that little detail into account.

"Move it..." She said, a hint of frustration in her high raising tone, "She is all you got" She straightened as he stood there blinking, his brows drawing together at what she'd just said...

She is all you got...

There were things you would do when she is all you got, and then there were things he would do when she is all he got. But no one would understand all that...not even him and she never could either...

And yet...in that aloofness, in that prickly sense of sacrifice that cost him all his life's worth of willpower to stay away from her, she was still all he got...
