@ All : Lots of discussion on parenting and disciplining...

My 11-year old niece developed an obsession with all things Harry Potter. She has read all the books in the series at least a million times, watches the movies every time it is on, that is, if she's allowed to watch TV.And whenever she visited me, she would have me hook her up to the Net to watch HP online. If asked to draw something, she's draw HP. I didn't realize her obsession until my brother informed me about the extent of it.

Every time she flouted her parents' warnings, her punishment got progressively severe. (But no, no lock ups, or corporal punishment or starvation).

In my own extended family, there was no corporal punishment for the girls, but the boys did receive them on occasion, which was less about physical hurt but more about conveying extreme disappointment.

My point being, there are lot of factors to account for: 1) the parents' own upbringing (if they were subjected to corporal punishment and starvation, there's an increased chance of them adopting this method or being completely turned off from it) 2) the parents' capacity (education levels, exposure etc.) to understand child psychology 3) the severity of the offense 4) prior warnings and many more...the list can go on.

It is impossible to generalize.

But, here in the episode, as someone mentioned, this was never about parenting or disciplining, it was about cruelty and abuse.

@Kirti :Woww awesome take on Gayatri's low self-esteem...very interesting point 👏👏👏...I mean why will such a old senior lady of Scindia family waste her time running after a kid and giving him punishment for whole day as if thats the only mission of her life 😕...it looks really very weird ...and it explains Gayatri is insecure in the house since noone gives her importance ...so yup low self-esteem is a very good point ...
@Z :Even I hv faced such punishments of getting locked in a room by my mother once ..I was 7 or 8 yrs old and I think I bunked school to go for a movie with parents 😆..so my mother locked me in room for whole day and opened the door during dinner time ...But after that I never ever thought of bunking school for a movie 😆/...so such punishments does help at times but then it depends on what kind of mistake u hv comitted and whether such punishment is justified or not ...I feel locking up Ansh was not much of a issue if he was locked in his own room for some time ...I think its the way she locked up in a godown for so many hrs even when he said he was bleeding is the main issue ...the punishment would hv looked normal if she had locked him up in his room but the way she used the cruel technique of locking him up in a dark room for so many hours looked like revenge more than punishment

It better be good today.
I am not particularly looking ARYA scenes, but some resolution for yesterday's debacle. Though I am looking forward to how and if Yash can see Aarti's inner turmoil, and how he react.
Again hats off to Divyam for such wonderful acting, his tears seems so real and I cannot forget how he folded in Aarti's lap when she asked him why he look scared.
