Eijaz Khan, Actor
I believe in God, a Supreme Power, the
Law of Cause and Effect. In my own ways,
I have tried to understand Islam, the religion I was born into. I believe in truth. And
I also realise that the universe tries to
maintain a balance like any chemical
equation. As an engineer, I apply the concepts of physics to my life. For example,
Newton's law says every action has an
equal and opposite reaction. Life can be
as simple as that.
I believe we err because we are
human. And I was no different. As an actor
the acting seeps into real life sometimes.
And I didn't realise when and how I started acting all the time. Last year, was a
game changer. I lost everything that I had
gained in this life overnight. Friends, love,
money, fame... everything... it was as if my
personality and every extension of it was
gone. I left the city never to come back. I
went everywhere around India. I stayed in
Dharamshala where I felt it was easier to
confront what I really was. I would walk
from one village to the other not knowing
where and why. I made a friend in Steve, a
70-year-old traveller, who would laugh at
my questions. I would ridicule him for
being an escapist. But only when I
stopped searching, the answers started
coming. What happened to me was what I
deserved. The anger and hate left me. I
accepted myself. And in turn accepted
others. With their virtues and flaws. I
stopped lying to myself. That was my
breakthrough.
I am just normal person living a normal
life. I go for the Friday prayers at the
mosque. I feel it brings me closer to God.
I believe in analysing myself. My biggest
guru is with me all the time. I believe in
God and He believes in me. God's in my
team.
