Has Illa Bedi lost it all?Is her drama going to end abruptly? These two questions are all that has been coming in my mind for few days, and I believe the answer is quite obvious to us all.YES,she has lost, and whether she admits it,or not,we,the viewers of her show, have sensed it that the writer has derailed the story long time back, and now it is at the point of no return.

The drama started with a new perspective in the world of Hindi television drama;with a theme quite different from others, contemporary in its style, and appealing to many with its story.A simple story with a sublime meaning;a story of a 21st century young woman from a middle class society, struggling with the day-to-day problems of her life, and finding ways to meet the end to the means.Indira Sharma, the protagonist, resembles every such person, whose life is surrounded by work and family, who has given up every hope to be happy,to live her life.Until one day,a young man comes into her life and turns her world upside-down.With the introduction of this second lead character,Rishi, alias Ricky Diwan,a breeze of fresh air comes in the story.Rishi, with his witty words and charm, adds humor and levity to the plot.As the story revolves slowly,in the midst of all odds in Indira's life,it leads us all to a world of friendship and love.Indira starts to feel something she has never felt before, she starts to believe that life is beautiful, only if we're open to the possibilities.
Along with the element of reality,we get the taste of humor and romance too.But as the drama moves forward, there comes a villainous character, whose evil intentions fill the story with gloominess.Indira's life once again seems to stand the test of time, and she she needs to face it with her unbeatable spirit to give up.And she does, but this time her spirit is strengthen by the company of Rishi, who stands beside her as a friend.Till this part of the drama, the writer handles the plot well and, until the point where Indira and Rishi are brought together to unite in holy matrimony. The story-line seems to derail from here, because there is a discontinuity in the chain of events;the scenes don't justify the plot, and characters, mostly Rishi's,don't seem to evolve. There is a huge loop hole, which draws the viewers' attention. The story goes nowhere, but revolves round the sub-plot,i.e.,Indira-Rishi's marriage.Weak characters are made more weaker, and strong characters, like Indira and Rishi, are not given enough space to grow.Humor and romance that once captured our hearts, seem to have been replaced by irony ,sarcasm, and mockery. And the plot and story-line doesn't go along. Moreover, every time we expect to see the depth of relationship grow ,we're given an illusion of it.

And alas!we are soon reminded that the drama has turned into a melo-drama;that there is no,what-so-ever connection between the events in the story and its theme.Besides, the writer has turned the drama into a mockery of marriage, and its belief in the society. The drama "Hitler Didi",indeed seems to turn into a comedy;but not a pure comedy either. Therefore, coming back to where I started, the writer has lost the essence of the story. And nothing can mend the damage that has already been done. There seems to be very little chance that the story can be retraced back to its magic that it once had.

Having said all about the abrupt script of HD,there is just one thing that I need to say,and that is,the talent of the actors is totally wasted.Actors like Rati Pandey, who is such a versatile actor, with so much of potential in her,and Sumit Vats, who has been evolving as an actor, are wasted;actors like Mrunal, and the others, are not given enough space to develop.Even though HD has not come to its end,but its end is not awaited anymore. The story has fallen apart, and we're going to miss the beautiful story of Indira and Rishi.

Friends, this was my point-of-view regarding the show, and I don't intend to get personal here.Neither am I making any comparisons here,so please, read it with an open mind, and share your views.

nice post. just a few minutes back i was watching a VM made by a friend which had a combo of the old (pre court case) scenes & the new scenes (rain dance, shaadi no. 4, etc). i was so lost in the old scenes dat the music in the VM complimented the scenes...but come the new scenes, the music seemed better & i lost focus of the video. the old HD was dat good. we did get inshi in the new part but we lost rishi, we lost indira i feel which was really sad😭

You might not believe this, Earnshaw, but I wanted to post a rant about the way the show shaped, but it would have been extremely long. My post would have been titled "Hitler Didi: A Rant in Three Parts" 😆. You've done a much better job. Thanks for this post 😊

Have they lost the plot? Sure, they have. What exactly were we waiting for? In terms of plot, we were waiting for Indira to smile and accept Rishi in her life. Both of these have happened now. Marriage, a mere formality, should ideally count for nothing because now, officially or unofficially, they are married.

So what part of the story remains to be told? What are we, as audience, supposed to look forward to? Some infantile twists, which are executed in typical Ekta Kapoor style (namely, illogical and amateurish)? Now, what's next?? Do we suddenly see Vidith wake up one morning and decide that he does not want to shoulder the responsibility of the family? Is this the only type of twist that the writers can think of? Can there be no 'positive' twists? Such as the burdens of marriage? Why does it always have to be about plotting and scheming? And why should the light moments just vanish like that? Why should characters change so much that they are unrecognizable? I am a huge Rishi fan and suddenly, I don't know him any more. The last I remember, he was a character. He is now an appendage. Murder most foul, that.

The show has let the actors down considerably. They are a fine lot. And this is not just about Sumit or Rati. Rituraj, Sejal Shah, Sandeep, and the guy playing Radhey are equally deserving of compliments. They are all sewing together the gaps in a ruptured script and basically doing their best.

What actually made me start watching Hitler Didi is Ila Bedi Dutta's interview in which she said that she is disappointed with what is shown on television today and wants to show something different. She has kept her promise to an extent. Indira Sharma and her family, as a creation, is different. (I do have problems with the presentation of the family as one-dimensional, cardboard characters who lack depth, but we'll let that go).

"Haan...main rone walon mein se bhi nahin hoon"...a powerful line that presents the core of this strong protagonist. Then came Rishi, lovable and fun-loving. The original plot was to show how Indira changes from being a tough Hitler who is bogged down with the pressures of making ends meet to a girl who learns to smile. Because of this one person who understands and cares for her and shows her how important it is to smile at the little things that happen in a day. I am going to make a point to say this here: I am one of those who started watching this show for Rishi's character. It's always interesting to see how opposites interact. How they influence each other. In the promos, Indira was established as khadoos. It was Rishi who was a mystery. And he proved to be a beautiful character. Slowly, Sumit's portrayal of Rishi grew on me and the shades he provided to the character are astounding. Truly.

I used to wait for their interactions and their initial moments were lovely. They would manage to convey tons without uttering a single word. Beautiful. To me, this is story enough. The nuances , untold emotions, unspoken sentiments. And not just with a romantic angle. There could have been poignant mother-daughter or brother-sister scenes. There is enough scope to show humor, drama, emotion, and conflict. But the simplest stories, I suppose, are the toughest to tell.

That's why we had a babbling psychopath on the loose. What could have been a real 'twist' in the story was reduced to parody. And we seemed like fools to want and hope for better. If Sameer's introduction was merely to bring Ricky Diwan to the fore, then I wonder why his role wasn't limited to a cameo? Just like Rani Bathija. That would have worked.

Then came the rape track. Seems totally unnecessary now because they did nothing with it!! It didn't go anywhere, as with so many other situations and moments that were wasted. Mandira hasn't changed. Instead, we get to see a changed and much more vulnerable Indira and Rishi who only seem to want to marry. That week, I as audience, was totally furious. It seemed as though Ila Bedi was thrusting those Inshi scenes down our throat. "You wanted Inshi? Take Inshi". There was not one convincing scene in that whole shaadi track. Indira's laughter was premature and, I believe, forced. So, its quite possible that they want to wind up. And if that is so, I wonder at newer characters being introduced.

The shortest and easiest way to salvage the show is to capitalize on the strengths of the show, namely the lead pair. Use what you have (and believe me, you already have a lot). The star cast should not be a zoo of ancillary characters. A few, well-etched core characters who understand the story should be retained. And not the least, can we please have the story back? We mean "story" -- not fluff.

I think I should stop here, I could go on and on. By now, you're glad you didn't have to read a rant in three parts, aren't you?

well the damage has been done but i think there is scope for rectification

i mea ipkknd totally messed up 2 months of their serial but on demand of the fans they are bringing a mystery quotient in their serial in the next 2 weeks i read the tc article on it today

i think after this kidnapping track there is a lot of scope for rishis character at least
and if its going where i think its going (ricky😈)

the whole inshi relationship can begin anew and it can help save the show

it will be like hitler didi is starting a season 2 with an absolutely new character new dynamics new relationships

frankly i think copying a movie character chulbhul🤢 is just gonna piss people off

just go real for once there is so much to be explored in the show

i think all tv shows go through this rough patch at least once lets hope hd gets out of this

I have only one problem why is it going so slow now?
Why Why Why there's no inshi scenes who's suffering from a sort of allergy which can't digest Inshi scenes and is not adding it.

wonderful posts all👏👏👏

Kowturk - loved your point about simple story is the hardest

I really don't know what happened after the rape track. The "forced down your throat" Inshi moments were terrible. Something that should have been utterly precious was treated as trash.

There could have been so much story to be told in Rishi growing up and coming to terms with his own family trauma, now that he is somewhat free of Vidith guilt. Instead of being an appendage to Indira, being his own man, who nonetheless loves her completely and unconditionally.

Indira could have shown to realize the value of Rishi, why she loves him, does she have faith in Rishi etc. Most importantly can she reciprocate Rishi's feelings and support him in his troubles as he supports her?

Then there is Inder - why the abrupt 180 turn by him? Why did he change etc.

It is as is there is a new team of CVs who want to abruptly close the chapter on past 5/6 months and start a new story.

I personally don't even like the new Indira persona. It seems artificial. I have ranted before

hope they show some sensitivity and logic in track.
but one thing i just want to say "Fans who lack faith can make a team lose a game it is already winning"
this quote goes with HD fans, they already lost faith so how HD can win?
so pls viewrs pls keep faith ,dont be negetive it will only destroy everythng.

Dunno Whats wrong But It seems that They hv lost Indeed something what we call vision for story - I dunno where they wanna take story ahead. In terms of Inshi ,Indu or other characters. It seems scenes are directed by some Kid .Look how badly it seems in terms of whole one Episode story projection from last Two episode.Well If I m called fan of some show.I definitely expect better .

Thank You for highlighting some of these points in your excellent post. The answer to your question whether the show will end abruptly - at present, I believe like most things on HD there is always a possibility.

I recall reading an interview where Ila Bedi herself stated that her writing for a serial holds a time frame which does not exceed a particular number of months. Inference being the time frame she devotes to her writing would retain the quality and integrity of the story.

I amongst others would completely agree with you as to how aspects of the story lines have been treated sometimes defying logic and challenging realism. The developments of certain characters have been restricted/limited; talents of actors not fully explored to give maximum effect to enhance the quality of scenes and so on..

I am a Rati and HD fan and I would be disappointed if HD failed to retrieve the integrity of it original storyline and the promise it once held- nowadays I simply watch and hope for the best.
