Chapter 18

Pia comes out to the common area, looking here and there trying to find Abhay. She knew her feelings towards him and she didn't want to delay telling him at all. She didn't know how she was going to tell him but she didn't care. She left it all up to time and avoided thinking about it. It would only make her nervous.

At last, she found him in the rehearsal room. She hurried up to him and he turned hearing the motion. She came to a stop just foot away from him. He said, "Relax, what happened?"

She took a few deep breaths before saying, "I- I need to talk to you."

He nodded and said, "Okay, what is it?"

She was about to say 'Not here' when someone else interrupted; a person from the organization committee. "Abhay, please give us a hand here."

He looked at her, back to Pia and back at the person. One last time, he looked at Pia and said, "We'll talk later. You should go get rest as well. Tomorrow's going to be one hectic day." Giving her one assuring look that they'll talk later, he left. She stood there not able to do anything. Guess I'll have to tell him tomorrow then…

Next day came and went by, no one even realized. It was evening time and the ball was soon to start. Pia was pacing back and forth in the dressing room, thinking whether to tell him before the dance or after. If it was before, she'll feel relaxed. But if it was after, then they'll have enough time to talk about it. She was hell confused on what to do.

She decided to go out and find Abhay, see what he's doing. If he's free, then she'll talk to him now itself, or else later on. She found him surrounded by other boys from their class and so she decided to stay put. But his eyes flickered from them to her instantly as if knowing that she was standing there.

He was lost in her simple beauty. The red, strapped, knee-length dress looked perfect on her; tightly fitted and just magnificent looking. It complimented her even more. He already loved her and seeing her in this dress arose those emotions and feeling inside of him. He just kept gazing at her and she stared back at him wondering how he knew she was there.

After a few seconds of complete silence, for them, she felt conscious. She started thinking what he would be thinking seeing her wear a dress like this. It was not a big deal though. It was what everyone was wearing at the ball, not completely similar but along the lines! Then why was she feeling conscious? She didn't know. She just did.

The first time they had met, according to her, at Abhay's welcoming party, she was wearing a dress just like this. Only difference was its style and color. At that time, she hadn't felt conscious about herself at all. But then again, she didn't know her feelings towards him at that time. Now she did.

Few of the girls came and shook her. "Hey!! Pia! It's almost time for your performance. Come on." She nodded and they took her away from there. There was once again a silent spectator of this. Not just one but two watchers. Maya and Jeh!

A positive and a negative clashing each other! On one side, Maya was more than happy for Abhay and Pia and on the other hand, Jeh was grinning like some devil thinking about the future he had in store for both of them. He said to himself. Look at each other all you want. But tonight, I will make sure to ruin both of your lives. You both had your turn. Now it's mine.

They both stood at the center of the stage in complete darkness. The light then focused on them and spot light was on top of them. The music played and they circled around with only their hands touching in between the circle. As the voice came and the tune dispersed in the background, he pulled her towards him by the hand which he was holding.

(^ One complicated step that's hard to describe. It just took the viewers in awe looking at the ease they did it with. One twirl and hands are crisscrossed. Another twirl in the same direction and one in the opposite and hands aren't in the crisscross pattern anymore. Instead, her head is resting on his chest now, considering her height compared to hers.)

(^ He lifted her in the air and with a small circle, he slowly brought her back down. during rehearsal time, she had been afraid of this move as she was afraid she might slip and fall. She knew she could trust Abhay but a fear is a fear. It doesn't go away that easily. But looking at the step right now, no one would have been able to tell that she was afraid. Still, she held on to his collar tightly as he slowly and carefully brought her back down.)

The true emotions in his eyes could be reflected in hers as well. He truly wished to spend the rest of his life with her. He semi-twirled her so as she is standing in front of him, looking in the same direction as him.)

(^ Her hands crossed her waist as his lay on top of hers. With another hand, he rubbed her arm from bottom to top till he found her hand. Holding it, he turned her again with a jerk. Now her one hand again lay on his heart while other, behind his head. His hands: one on top of her which lay on his heart; another behind her waist sending shocks down her spine.)

(^ She let her hands drop and took a couple steps away from him to indicate the distance between them. In the story they were showing everyone, they loved each other but there was still an unspoken distance between them.)

(^ Both walked towards each other, not once letting the connection within their eyes drop. They held each other gaze all throughout the rest of the dance. They entwined their fingers with each other and she let him lead her for the step.)

(^ As the ending pose, he took her in a dip. She was leveled to the ground but completely safe in his hold. The lights dimmed away, leaving them to gaze at each other for a second before the party lights were turned on. Everyone cheered for them and as they come into reality, he slowly pulled her up to her feet and taking a quick bow, both left.)

As they got off the stage, everyone started praising them back stage. Pia was flushing with red cheeks. She rushed away from there and Abhay turned just then to call her as he remembered she wanted to tell him something. But too late, she had run away from there.

Once in the changing room by herself, she took fast breaths and sat down in order to calm her heart beats. The romantic dance they had just done was playing havoc in her heart. She stood up to look at herself in the mirror and saw Abhay behind her. He was gazing at her with a glimpse of mischief in his eyes.

She stayed that way till he walked up to her. He then was right behind her. He touched her shoulder, making her close her eyes shut. She took a deep breath, grasping in the touch. She felt his breath on her ear and she shrugged. She stood there frozen like ice. The feeling arising inside of her couldn't be stopped.

"Abhay…"

"Shh." He said in her ear making her blush harder. He held her hand and turned her. Holding her chin, he made her look at him only to let her drop her eyes. He whispered in her ears, "You look beautiful today."

Taking in the compliment, she blushed and looked down at the floor. She took the courage to look up into his eyes and seeing him close the distance between their faces, she closed her eyes, inviting him for a kiss. When it didn't come after few seconds, she opened to eyes to find herself alone in the room.

Dream… it was all her dream… her wild imagination!! She spanked herself for the wild imaginations and blushed at herself thinking about how she wanted the rest of the night to be. The day was special and she wanted it to be even more special by confessing tonight. She made the decision to do it tonight. If not at the party then at home for sure!
