CHAPTER 23:Man And Wife

The next morning, the sun rose as though it had a renewed energy in it. Khushi woke up as the rays of the sun hit her eyes. She felt herself in the warm embrace of her husband. She lay with her head on his chest and hair scattered over her back and arnav's arm cuddling her in a tight embrace.

A smile lit her face as she realized she was with her arnav. Finally, after all that they had to face, they were here, together. Where they belong.

She tried to get her face up to see arnav, but as soon as she moved, arnav said slightly irritated,

Arnav: khushi stay.

And saying so arnav brought her closer to him if that was even possible.

Khushi's smile widened seeing arnav's sleepy state.

Then the events of last night came into khushi's mind and her cheeks answered her call by blushing. It quickly spread to her neck.

Arnav: oh god khushi. Stop blushing. your body is becoming too warm that after some time you'll make me sweat.

Khushi pouted and hit arnav's chest and cuddled up to him.

And she received a smirk on arnav's face as well.

Khushi: hey devi maiyya, how can an arrogant man look so damn cute that all you want to do is kiss him.

Arnav: no one is stopping you tomato.

Khushi: shit, did I say that out loud? I mean—

Arnav silenced her by claiming her lips. He kissed her and she him. Many people had told her that after the first time it feels quite awkward, but this one gesture of arnav had calmed khushi down.

Finally she broke the kiss to breathe.

Khushi: Let me go arnav. I have to attend the pooja in the morning. And I am also supposed to prepare food for you.

Arnav: Shut up khushi. OP will take care of that.

Khushi: See I am your wife, it is a ritual that I am supposed to make your first meal and unless you want me to be an useless wife, I suggest you let me go.

Arnav: oh, khushi you are so useful. Last night itself I had so much use for you.

Khushi blushed and hit him again.

Khushi: stop playing around. And I am noticing that you are getting naughtier day by day. Show some manners.

Arnav: stop teasing you and miss the TOMATO effect on you. I think not.

Khushi turned crimson red.

Khushi: Its useless talking to you. Let me go.

Arnav: khushi I let you go long back. It is you who are still on top of me.

Khushi noticed this and her jaw dropped. She composed herself as she heard a knock on the door.

Anjali(from outside): khushi, chotey, I have your tea. And please get ready fast for the pooja in the morning.

Khushi got up immediately . arnav smiled even further as he called to khushi.

Arnav: khushi.

Khushi: what now arnav?

Arnav: have you forgotten last night.

Khushi blushed but looked at him confused. Why was he talking like that.

Khushi: not now arnav. You cant talk about that 24*7.

Arnav: I am Arnav Singh Raizada and I can do anything. And I only asked if you remembered last night because if you did,

He took a break as he sat up a bit in the bed.

Arnav: because if you did remember last night, you should also remember that you have nothing ON.

Khushi looked confused at first and as soon as she realized as to what arnav meant, she blushed.

Arnav smirked as he looked up and down and saw her entire body turning a dark shade of red due to shyness.

Khushi immediately jumped on the bed and pulled the bedsheet up till her shoulder. Arnav bent and kissed her cheeks as he got up and wore his jeans and a shirt and went to open the door. Khushi immediately lay down and covered herself entirely.

Khushi: hey devi maiyya, how stupid can I get. Arnav Singh Raizada, I'll get you back for embarssing me. instead of beating around the bush couldn't he tell me directly.

Laad governor.

Arnav took the tea and came inside. He passed khushi her nighty and asked her to wear it.

Khushi: why are you here. go outside so I can put this on.

Arnav: well that wasn't a problem last night nor a few seconds ago.

Khushi threw a pillow at him as arnav smirked and ducked. Khushi finally got ready and went and took her tea.

Khushi: we'll need another chair you know.

Arnav: why?

Khushi: there is only one recliner in our room, which you have happily occupied.

Arnav: so?

Khushi: So where am I going to sit?

Arnav pointed at the space infront of him and smirked and said,

Arnav: Here.

Khushi blushed but went and sat infront of arnav and leaning on arnav's chest. They both silently drank their tea.

After they drank it, khushi got up to get ready.

Khushi: I am going to bathe first.

Arnav: sure.

Khushi was stumped at the response. Well she thought that he would atleast give her a fight. Well maybe he really was no match for her. She took the towel and went inside. She was about to close the door when arnav stepped in with a towel himself.

Khushi: but I told I am going first.

Arnav: yes and me second. So step in the shower and I'll follow.

Khushi: what? NO arnav. It will

Arnav silenced her by placing a finger on her mouth. Her eyes widened as arnav took her and placed her inside their bathtub. He got in the next moment and kissed her senseless while she got over her initial shock and took her revenge.

Needless to say, an activity which both could have completed in 10 to 15 minutes took an hour and a half to complete. And the only reason it was complete was because khushi had blinded arnav with some soap water and had run out to get dressed.

Arnav came out after 10 minutes to find a completely dressed khushi. But something was worng. She was turning the place upside down trying to find something.

Arnav: If you are tring to find me, I am here beautiful.

Khushi turned around with a flustered face.

Khushi: not now arnav. I am not able to find something. I am already tensed. Don't add fuel to fire.

Arnav: what are you searching for love?

Khushi: my sindoor box.

Arnav: if you cant find it, go down to the mandir and take some.

Khushi: no. It will be a bad omen. First day and I am already failing as a wife and bahu of this household.

And tears flooded her eyes as she sat on the bed and started crying.

Arnav smirked at the silly situation at which she had started to cry. Well promise was a promise and he did tell her that he wouldn't let her cry.

Arnav: wait I think I know where some sindoor is.

He went into the bathroom and returned with a pair of scissors.

Khushi looked at him confused and the her face changed to one with look of horror as Arnav used the scissors to cut open his thumb and it started bleeding.

Khushi's jaw dropped as she saw arnav advance towards her and fill her maang with his blood.

Arnav: I hope this does it.

Khushi: WHAT THE? ARNAAAVVV.

And dhe hit him on his chest and then immediately pulled him in an embrace but she hit him on his chest or poked him as she said,

Khushi: ARE YOU CRAZY MR.RAIZADA? what the hell did you just do.

Arnav: I promised I'll never let you cry. You didn't have sindoor, so I made some.

Khushi: that isn't sindoor, its your damn blood. What if you had cut open an important vein in this stupidity?

Arnav: khushi until you are near me, nothing will happen to me. I am the only human whose life resides outside his body, in his khushi.

He smiled.

Khushi: wipe that grin off your face laad governor. I have to give you your punishment.

Arnav: What punishment? I was just fulfilling my promise.

Khushi: how dare you make my husband bleed? No you don't have that right mister.

Arnav shook his head. Making Khushi happy was apparently an impossible task.

Arnav: fine, tell me.

Khushi: this is your punishment,

Saying so she removed all distance between them and gave arnav a hard but passionate kiss which made arnav see stars in daylight.

Arnav: I'll slit my hand everday for this punishment.

Khushi punched him really hard. Even though she looked frail and small, arnav had to admit that her punch was lethal as he let out an

Arnav: owww. It hurts.

Khushi: good.

And she turned and walked to the dressing table, got out a bandage.

Arnav: I can take care of it khushi.

Khushi just looked at him and gave him a glare which silenced arnav.

She took his hand and cleansed it with water, treated it and finally put a bandaid over it. Then she bent and gave his thumb a kiss and immediately left leaving arnav quite confused.

Arnav(thinking): what the hell just happened. One moment, she is kissing me, the next she is shouting at me, the next she is healing me and next she kisses my finger and to top it all she just left ignoring me completely. This girl will drive me crazy.

Arnav then got ready and decided to cheer up khushi by attending her pooja thing.

He made his way down and found khushi talking to his di.

He silently went near khushi and hugged her from the back and placed his hands on her waist and his head on her shoulder.

Anjali: khushi I just got a call from the gupta's that you have left your sindoor box at home. So I was on my way to give you some. But I guess you didn't need it. Did you find some?

Khushi: your stupid laad governor of a brother made some.

Anjali: what do you mean made some?

Khushi angrily took arnav's injured hand and showed it to Anjali.

Anjali looked from his injury to khushi's forehead and then understood what khushi meant.

A smile played on her lips and tears welled in her eyes to see the love of her chottey. The one person who had refused to love or be loved for most of his life.

Khushi: don't smile di. Don't encourage him.

And she left to the temple to get the vermillion and the Prasad to distribute in the house. She gave it to everyone except arnav. She then came with the thaal and sat near arnav facing the other way. Arnav smirked at his wife's antics. He went near her and made her stand up. Khushi was determinedly looking away from him.

Arnav gave a peck on her cheeks to gain her attention.

She looked at him completely annoyed and angry. Thugh in reality she was meting by looking in his eyes.

Arnav: wont you put that red colour on my face as well?

Khushi: whats the use. You don't believe in all this.

Arnav gave her a smile and replied,

Arnav: But I believe in my dear wife.

He leaned in forward. Khushi was dumbstruck. Was he going to kiss her in front of the entire family?

Khushi: hey devi maiyya. What is he doing. Please save me.

Arnav smirked as he saw her blushing profusely as he came closer and closer.

He advanced until his forhead touched hers and he rubbed his head against hers and withdrew. Arnav had transferred a bit of her tika on to him.

The rest of the family left to the dinnig table laughing at arnav's changed attitude. But arnav and khushi were standing there looking into each other's eyes.

He smiked as she looked down and returned a smile. He took her to the breakfast table hand in hand.
