She kept looking at the floor uncomfortable of his angry gaze... She had looked in his eyes just once and the anger and disappointment crushed her and she couldn't think of what she was going to tell, what he was going to think. She didn't know why it mattered either. Wasn't it just few days back she wanted to quit it and run away and was trying everything to irk him. But now, somewhere while trying to find a way to run away she didn't realize when she wanted to stay more than running away. She longed to come to work. Work through patients and then work with him on the Sanjivani project. She felt like she was putting in extra from her side and she liked the results, the appreciation she was gaining. Armaan and his ignorance towards her feelings didn't matter anymore. Infact she wasn't sure if the feelings were there anymore. She infact liked Abhimanyu's company and had may be started liking him. That snapped her. It was as if she was stepping into something that was forbidden. For god's sake he has fianc in hospital, even though she wasn't going to last, it didn't make right to think about him just yet. She felt ashamed of her feelings, emotions and wondered how she ends up taking the path that doesn't take her to her destination. May be she was not worth anyone's love, she didn't deserve it or why would fate always take her along such line. Feeling disappointed, tired and losing all the will she looked up to see Abhimanyu was still looking at her expecting answers, his eyes showed confusion but just for a minute and quickly replaced by anger and her heart dropped.

Dr. Nikita, What did you say?

She still stood there silent. Because there was no way she was going to be able to explain herself. There was no way he was going to listen, understanding it would be farfetched. May be if she didn't say anything he would give up. But then it was important for him so there was no way he was going to let her out of it so easily. Not knowing what to do, what to say she looked up again. As expected he was still angry and waiting for answers. She decided it was best to not tell the truth. She had to come up with something.

But the angry gaze in his eyes told him he was far from friendly. She fumbled for second and then there was confidence on her face.

Dr. Modi, I thought since you are administrator here, and such a good thoracic surgeon, you must have met him on one of the conferences or may be meetings related to new Sanjivani. I thought normally all famous doctors in the city know each other somehow. Somehow I keep forgetting you are administrator and not doctor here.

She knew what she was saying was something that was going to hurt him, but that was only way she could keep herself safe. Was she turning into one of those selfish people? If she had not known about his past the taunt would have made her happy but now it was hurting her too. But it was necessary for him to not find out what she did. She has to keep behaving as if she doesn't know a thing. When she looked in his eyes, there was hurt as expected but there was surprise too that she had not expected. Before she could say something she saw him just get up from the chair and walk out of the caf.

As they seated in the restaurant, he looked at Niki and her pouting. She dint seem happy about coming for dinner. Was it because of the last evening's incident? May be he had just jumped to conclude she had figured out his past. But he had a feeling whatever she told wasn't the truth. The way she had gone silent, there has to be something. But then if she had known anything then that taunt, wouldn't be coming from her. He had been so confused that she had decided to just walk out. Last time he was angry he had blurted out something he shouldn't have. He was a different person around her and he needed to protect himself so he had just walked out. Now when he looked at her there was no evident anger or regret that could link to last evening but she sure seemed unhappy to come with him for dinner. But meeting with minister's PA was important for the project. So he refused to pay attention to her details and instead decided to order food.
