INDIRA'S POV

NOTE: Since it is the 1^st time I am writing in IF, I am very excited and hope that you'll enjoy reading this pov which is almost or exactly similar to the story but is an in-depth description of Indira's feelings based on my imagination and interpretation of Indira's thoughts and action. As the story has already proceeded to a great extent, although I want to start the pov from the very beginning, I'll begin it from the part after Indira, the rest of the Sharmas and Rishi come to know the truth behind Mandira's one-night stand with Sameer Diwan. Please do comment! Constructive criticism is much appreciated!😊

PART 1:

It was quite late at night…almost all the hawkers and shopkeepers of the busy Parathewali Gali, Chandni Chowk, Delhi 6, had gone to their respective homes………For someone who had been searching for peace and quiet the entire day…..her entire life……, it was quite a bliss……So, Indira quietly dragged herself to the terrace….No one would disturb her there…..her family members were all asleep and Rishi had also disappeared after trying to explain that he loved no one but her………….Indira snorted at that thought……love her…….love her?!!! Dazed at the dark humour of her own thoughts, Indira unconsciously seated herself on the wall adjoining to the one separating Sharma Niwas and Amma's house…the very spot next to which she had seen Rishi sitting on several occasions………Once seated, Indira let the torrents of thoughts that she had controlled all day especially after Mandira's revelation flow freely…….

There was a time when Indira used to be a simple everyday girl next door……that like every other girl had dreams….interests…. was the ray of sunshine of her family... her daddy's little princess……But now those memories felt like the almost forgotten scenes of a favourite movie…..

Indira clearly remembered the day when her family…..she came to know about her father's marriage to that Jhumpa Lahiri….It felt like the end of the world to her…….but the world did not end……it continued in its relentless pace…….but she did…..Indira died that day and in her place was born 'Hitler Didi'- the girl who never smiled…….. From that day itself she had no dreams or interests or faith……her family's survival became the sole motive of her life and she did nothing but work…..work hard all day long………… With the passage of time, she learnt not to care about the taunts of the society but the insensitivities of her own family carved and clawed at her continuously……But she lived……..not because she wanted to but because she had to for her family…..for Ishaan…..for her Vidit Vaiya……who used to be her sole support………

Vidit Vaiya's thought brought other thoughts to her mind……. That of a sunny boy who she thought would change her life…..help her be the girl that she used to be and wanted to be…..help her smile…..the boy who she thought loved her……..The train of Indira's thoughts turned towards when she met Rishi for the first time……That time she didn't have the slightest idea that her irritating forced fellow-passenger would mean so much to her……She stilled remembered what a shock she received when she came to know that he was the tenant that she was searching for….all those fights with him……how determined she was to kick him out of her house! But then the not-really-unexpected happened and Mandira eloped with that vile Pappu Chadda….! She remembered how she had again put all blame on him….!!! But she was proved wrong and that was probably the start of their friendship and in her hearts of hearts…….love……….Indira remembered every single moments spent with him……their marriage in Macau……plot against that Sameer Diwan to save the house……how she revealed her feelings for him and he told her that he loved her as well……but he broke her heart by hiding the fact that he is Ricky Diwan from her……but eventually she forgave him after she realized that he was as lonely and deprived of love and family as she was……She remembered well the day they were about to get married…..not only was she going to start a new and presumably happy life with him but also her Vidit Vaiya was returning back to her! She was giddy with secret excitement and expectation………..But again he proved her to be wrong……..!!! He crippled Vidit Vaiya for the rest of his life! He took away the only support of her childhood she had from her! She just couldn't comprehend how he could just leave her Vaiya to die……..!!! Indira died once again that day but again she lived…… this time for her Vidit Vaiya……..But he is so very confusing…….. The things he said the day he kidnapped her……..Indira didn't know what to believe and what not to…… but everyone had always cheated her! Then, how can he be an exception?! No he can't be! He just can't be! Everything that he did was for his own selfish desires! No she couldn't forgive him! Even after all he is doing for Mandira! He was just like everyone! She was a fool for thinking him to be otherwise then as well as now…….. Because it was nothing but the truth that even after all that happened, she loved him………!!! And she hated herself and him for that……..Indu struggled for some time with her innermost thoughts till she could arrange it once again and hate him……..

Her thoughts then turned to Mandira and the recent events……She just couldn't believe what happened! That damned Sameer Diwan! How could he do that to her sister?! He couldn't get her so he just ruined her sister's life? Just like that?! And Mandira? Indira did everything she could, fought with her own family for her and she couldn't even tell that to her sister?! Indira snorted once again when she remembered what 'that' was….! Mandira thought Sameer to be him?! Indira knew that if she could laugh then, she would be laughing like crazy at that……..!!! Her own sister thought….wanted to…………with him……..?! Indira was just pushing away that thought when she became aware that he had come and sat next to her…….

Rishi tried to say something but she shouted back! 'Aap sab ek jaise ho! Pehle aapne wo Vidit Vaiya wali baat mujhse chupaye aur ab Mandira! Use apne behen par itna vi varosha nehi ki ye baat vi mujhe baata nehi saki?!'

It felt nice to shout and release some of her anger! Rishi tried to explain once again but she looked away…..afraid as she always had been whenever she looked at his eyes………his beautiful eyes……she was afraid that if she looked at that for much time, she would lose herself in them forever…….. She wanted to lose herself in them forever……….!!!

Indira then became aware of Mandira's presence….. Mandira gave her a stick and asked her to beat her with it but to forgive her for Indira's silence hurt her more than her than her beating would……. Mandira was reformed…….and she was truly sorry and hurt……..Indira had to comfort her…..She was her younger sister after all….So Indira forgave her and hugged her, putting her at ease and together the two sisters went downstairs……

'Oh maine apna mobile upar chor diya!' Indira exclaimed. She then asked Mandira to go and she went back to the terrace. On the terrace she found Rishi with his back turned towards her and holding the stick that Mandira had brought. He was mumbling that he wished that Indira would beat him with that stick and give vent to all her anger…..maybe then, she would forgive him just like she forgave Mandira……..Indira's heart melted a little at that. She stood listening to Rishi, when he suddenly turned and almost hit her with the stick! He was greatly shocked to see her there! But he pulled himself together and kneeled in front of her, offering her the stick…..with his head bowed……..Indira couldn't help but peer at him……..Then, suddenly she regained her senses and immediately rushed to her mobile telling him the purpose of coming back. She was about to rush downstairs but her heart stopped her……and she turned back…….Rishi hadn't moved….He was still kneeling on the ground but this time he looked at her…….With those same beautiful…..baleful eyes……pleading for forgiveness……..

Indira could only run before she went against her survival instincts and follow her heart by forgiving him…….embracing him…….Once back in the seclusion of her room, Indira again tried to control the torrents of emotions that threatened to overwhelm her………Tomorrow Sharma ji will have to give his testimony…… The entire case….. Her sister's life depended on that…… She should better go check on them and then, go to bed…….Tomorrow will be a busy, strenuous day…….
