He moved back and watched her leave…..run……towards the exit…..to the ocean…..away from everybody…….away from him….just like the last time he had let her go….from RM….THAT HORRIBLE NIGHT….he still remembered each and every second of that night like it was yesterday……or at least remembered SOME OF IT…..!

*****Flashback*****

THAT HORRIBLE NIGHT (Part 1)

It was the last night of their contract marriage. He was still at the office, thinking about Khushi….about their relationship…..their contract marriage……He knew that she was innocent……not because she ever told him anything……nor because he ever confronted her……but because…..he had felt it…..he had spent six months with her…….he could tell…..she couldn't do something like that……he had seen her avoid Shyam many times……he had seen her leave the room whenever Shyam was around…..he had seen her being uncomfortable every time there was any communication between her and Shyam….she had always taken care of his Di….she was always there for all the family members….she made sure no one ever found about out about their deal….to pretend like happily married couple around everyone……even though she did it to save Payal's marriage…..he wondered if she had any feelings for him….but then…..why would she have any feelings for someone like him…..he had never treated her right….he had always hurt her….physically and emotionally…..he had hurt her feelings….he had called her names…..he had yelled at her…screamed at her…..when he didn't know the truth….and after he realized he was wrong….he always tried and avoided her….he couldn't face her….he didn't want her hatred…..he couldn't handle her disgust towards him…….he just couldn't…..he started drinking…..a lot……everyone had already left the office…..he was there all alone….drinking….he never had this much to drink before…..

He finally decided to go home….he went to his car and started driving home…..he wanted to talk to her….he wanted to explain her everything…..he wanted to apologize to her…..he wanted to make it up to her…..he wanted to confess his feelings for her…..he wanted to touch her…..kiss her……love her……he just wanted to be with her…….forever….he couldn't imagine living without her…..he started speeding…..why did he wait this long to talk to her….he barely had 24 hours or less to convince her to stay….to express his feelings……he started speeding faster…..

He got home….HP opened the door, surprised to see Arnav disoriented, Arnav asked him "where is khushi?" HP replied "she is in her room….cleaning the closet or something…." Arnav got worried….he ran to the room and saw Khushi's clothes…..half of them on the bed….half in a hand bag…..the closet was almost empty….the stars over their bed were off…..the pink sheets were gone……the wind chime was on the table…..OH SHIT!….he thought…..he ran inside the room and shut the door….he had to talk to her…..he looked around….he didn't see khushi in the room…..he knocked on the bathroom door…no answer….he ran to the pool side…..she wasn't there either…..he left the room and ran to Payal's room….barged in and asked "do you know where Khushi is?" Payal replied "I think she is on the terrace, she had been cleaning her room all day…. I think she went to get her clothes from the terrace….are you okay?" Arnav left before she could finish her sentence…..ran up the stairs….to the terrace……

There she was…..standing in white sari…….wearing red glass bangles…..no other jewelry…..just her mangal sutra………looking at the stars…..her skin glowing under the moon, he called her name "Khushi!"……she turned around……she saw him walk towards her….she got nervous…..she replied "I am sorry…I didn't know you were home already……I know the room is a mess….I will make sure I will clean it before I lea….ve……" and ran downstairs to her room. Arnav followed her….he came inside the room and shut the door.

He didn't know where to start….what to say….how to explain….how to apologize….how to ask her to stay….how to express his feelings….how to……

Before he could even come in properly, khushi spoke "I have to talk to you about something" Arnav was thankful that she broke the silence….he had to talk to her too, he wanted to give explanation, wanted to confess, wanted to apologize, wanted to tell her that he actually loves her. He replied "I have to talk to you too".

Before he could say anything khushi said "I need a favor from you, after I leave, please promise me that you will not tell jiji why I agreed to marry you for six months. I don't want her to blame herself for my ruined marriage……or…..life. I won't be able to leave until you promise that you will not tell jiji anything and I mean ANYTHING. I have not asked you for anything, but I do want your promise……can you do that much for me….I will be forever thankful for this….can you give me your word?" Arnav looked at her face….her eyes….those expectant eyes…..those expressive eyes of hers…….her eyes……which always spoke louder than all her jabbers put together……those eyes….that he loved….those eyes….had tears in them…..those eyes…..wouldn't be there for too long…….Shit!…..she was going to leave him….she was planning on leaving…… oh no I have to talk to her before she decides to leave…..he thought.

He came close to her and said "khushi I want to talk to you too, I have lot of explanations to give you, I have to tell you why I forced you to marry me, why I hated you, why I tortured you, why I treated you so bad, why I misbehaved with you, why I hurt you, why I made you cry so much, why I…… khushi interrupted him "I don't want to know anything. I don't want any explanation from you, it's TOO LATE for all that".

Arnav was shocked, he said "but khushi I need to explain you everything, I need to apologize, I need to fix everything…." Khushi interrupted him again "I don't need any explanation from you anymore, I don't want you to apologize to me and you don't need to fix anything….all I need from you is a promise that you will not tell jiji anything, can you do that much for me?"

Arnav was taken aback with her words, he spoke again "khushi, are you not listening to me? I am trying to fix everything here…..I am trying to explain you why I did what I did……and you are still talking about leaving….I can't let you leave….I…." khushi said "Arnav ji, can you promise me or not?" Arnav was furious now, he pulled her close to him and said "khushi why are you ignoring what I am trying to tell you……why do you keep changing the topic, I am trying to say that I won't let you go and you keep talking about leaving….is it that hard to understand?"

Khushi tried to get out of his hold, she said "arnav ji please tell me….can you promise me or not?" arnav tightened his grip and screamed "KHUSHI WHY ARE YOU NOT LISTENING TO ME?, I am trying to tell you something…" khushi had tears in her eyes now, he was hurting her again, arnav realizing what he was doing, released her arms and said "I am sorry khushi, I didn't mean to hurt you, I am just trying to tell you something…" khushi interrupted again "can you promise me"? now arnav was furious to a whole another level, he screamed "GOD DAMN IT KHUSHI, what is wrong with you…..I am trying to tell you something here…. I am trying to tell you the reason why I married you, I thought…." to his disbelief he was interrupted again "are you going to promise me or not?" arnav couldn't take this anymore….he screamed "NO I WILL NOT PROMISE ANY SUCH THINGS…."

Khushi dropped on the floor, on her knees….crying…..said "Arnav ji, I have never asked you for anything……you told me to never question you….you told me never to bother you….you told me to stay out of your sight…..you told me pretend that we were so madly in love in front of everyone……you hurt me…..you abused me…..I still never asked you anything….this is the only thing I am asking you….just one promise….my first and last request…..i don't know how to convince you….i don't know what to sign anymore….where to sign anymore…..i have nothing to offer you……all I can do is plead…..please…..can you promise me….?"

Arnav kneeled down…..right across her, cupped her wet face full of tears and said "khushi, just listen to me….. you don't need to request me anything…..I am not letting you go anywhere….you are going to stay here….that's what I have been trying to tell you….we have to talk…." Khushi pushed him back and said "NO, I don't want to talk to you about anything, why can't you just give me one last thing that I ask you for?" she got up and continued packing….Arnav couldn't take this anymore…..he pulled her towards him, pinned her to the wall and said "khushi enough of this nonsense, stop packing! you are not going anywhere, this is the last time I am telling you this, don't force me to do something I will regret later, DO YOU UNDERSTAND?", he screamed!

Khushi was stunned, she didn't want to deal with this now, not anymore, not ever again, she screamed "GET OFF ME!, I don't want to talk to you right now, I don't think you are in your senses, you are drunk…..don't touch me…..let me go….let me go in peace….it's best for both of us….. I am sure once you are sober, you will realize that you should not have stopped me….we both know the reality of our relationship….you had your reasons to marry me…. I had my reasons to agree to your contract….and you have made sure that we both regret it for each day we spent together…..so I am begging you….don't stop me….not that I will stop, but still…I am almost done with my packing….I don't want to leave anything for tomorrow, I want to spend the last day with the family…..I don't know when I am going to see them again…….so please…let me go….and she tried pushing him away again….but before she could do that…..he pushed his lips on hers….
