Akshara's Column: Stay positive during difficult times

Hi friends, recently Bhabhima, Daddaji and the rest of the family learnt of Nandini's infertility. Their anticipation, hopes and dreams were shattered with this news. But Naitik, I and the rest of the family are trying our best to support and comfort them.

Nandini didi and Mohit are devastated with this news, but Mohit is being a very supportive and understanding husband. When I had lost my first child, I was shattered, so I can only imagine how Nandini didi is feeling right now. Not being able to bear a child is one of the most difficult situations a woman has to face. At such times it is very difficult for the family, but one has to remain strong and give hope to the individuals who are undergoing this, especially Nandini and Mohit.

It is definitely not easy but one must hold on to hope in such a situation. In today's times, several specialised treatments are available due to the advance in medical science. There is no harm in opting for such a treatment if it is beneficial. However one thing which is required the most is love and support from the family. They should not be taunted for not being able to have a child nor should this be viewed as a punishment from God. At such a time the husband is the biggest support that a wife can have and he must be there for his wife. Relatives and friends should be sensitive to the couple who are dealing with this. Finally a woman should not bottle up her feelings, but find someone whom she is comfortable talking to about this and share her emotions with them. The stress on Nandini didi and Mohit will only increase now that Mohit's family members have found out the truth. Will they be able to handle the situation and deal with it?
