This is my first proper post in the world of KKG-SR and ASR.
Notwithstanding that the show has been on for almost a year...i never watched it...i have have been watching all the other shows but never this one...when about ten days or so ago...i thought...this show is so talked about...every one seems to be raving about it...surely it can't really be ALL THAT GREAT!!! So being the cynic that i am...i decided to watch...and...i have been watching and watching and watching and re-watching and re-re-watching ever since!!!!!!!!!
IMHO...what this show has what the others don't (with due respect to all the others that i used to watch quite regularly)...is superb acting by the main leads...! a story line that moves smoothly...honestly speaking...for a play that has been on for almost a year...we can cut the CVs a bit of slack if the story line is lagging a bit now...they have given us super stupendous viewing pleasure for a while now...with hardly any complaints...(at least not from my quarter). Every viewer has an opinion on how they would want to tweak the story a bit...thats our viewership right i suppose..but the bottom line is...that this is a kick ass show that has (somehow) retained its original flavor and not been ruined to date...despite the lagging (if you really wanna call it that)...if the CVs have managed to not disappoint to date...give them a chance..hopefully they won't let you down in the future either...
Now to the world of TRPs...how realistic are TRPs...i have always been a little confused on that front...do they take into account...non Indian based viewers...if they don't than what about all of us...and if they only take into account the Indian based viewers than its a smaller pie that we are looking at and the manner in which its being divided...plays like Diya Aur Baati and Balika Vadhu probably will have mass appeal to the rural as well as urban viewership while plays like Iss Pyar Ko and Bade Ache Lagte Hain may appeal to niche audience...(my theory will of course go out for a six if the TRPs are based on global viewership...).
In bold is really the truth, I agree with you.
And yes, we share a same story! I too started to watch it from sangeet time onwards in Jan. And, I have been watching other shows before and actually I have switched channel seeing 1 or 2 scenes of IPKKND now and then before December!!! I was really surprised that how come i missed catching this show before!!!
When I saw all the episodes from the beginning on-line, I am thrilled! I feel I haven't watched any show like IPKKND on TV so far (it is 12 years for me now catching up serials on TV, not that I watch everything and anything though...) ; it is just a very unique and wonderful serial. Story, acting, presentation - everything is just wonderful. I love the show and will watch it till the end.
I don't mind little low running of a show now and then. TRPs definitely doesn't give the true picture of the popularity and quality of a show.
