Akshara's Column: Being careful when taking your baby out

Hi friends, recently I experienced the most unnerving thing a mother can go through when my Duggu got locked inside the car and the keys too were left in. I cannot even begin to explain how scared and upset I was for my son and his safety.

When Duggu got locked in the car, it was such a harrowing situation for both Naitik and me as we were both nervous but we also had to try and think of a solution to help our son. Naitik left the car and went to help someone and it closed with the key inside. I have learnt that we must never leave our baby unattended even if it is for a few seconds, as this may cause a lot of problems like it did for us. It is so important to take care of your child when going out. Here are a few precautions that you can take

-When taking your baby out, always carry the required essentials like pampers, clothes change, milk bottle etc in a big bag. Also carry a blanket to protect your child from the harsh sun and wind.
-Make sure to dress him/her in appropriate clothing such as warm clothes for cold weather. It is also better to cover their head with a cap as their head is very sensitive at a young age.
-Avoid taking them to overtly crowded places as this will make them nervous. It is also feasible to take them out after they have been fed as they are generally relaxed after that and may even take a nap.
-Take your child out when the weather is suitable, avoid times or places which are too hot or too cold for the baby.
-Taking your child out in the open fresh air is good for them, but it is better to do so for short periods of time. Most importantly always try to remain calm, even when faced with a daunting situation.

Gayatri ma has always been worried when I take Duggu out and now with this recent incident, I do not know how she will react?
