Here are a few things we ought to keep in mind about Autism:

1. Autism is a neurological disorder, not a disease. Anyone, anywhere can be born with autism, irrespective of caste, creed, religion or nationality.

2. One out of every 110 children born today has Autism.

3. There is no known cause of autism, hence, no cure. Although an early detection and immediate intensive therapy will help children overcome the challenges to a large extent.

4. Autism is a lifelong condition. But no matter the age, people with autism can improve.

5. "Bad parenting" doesn't cause Autism. Parents should not be demoralized if they do not receive early intervention.

6. Contrary to popular belief, less than 2% of autistic people have extraordinary talents. This means that they would also need help in basic day-to-day living.

7. Family members should together try and imbibe techniques of working and interacting with autistic children or adults.

8. Ultimately, the key to successful management of autism is the acceptance of a child the way he or she is by the parents and the community at large.

i am not sure if its against the rules but as educated people we should spread awareness about things we hear/know.

If the topic needs to be scrapped that would be fine.

Thanks for Sharing and I agree with the facts...being a Mom to an autistic child it really kills me not knowing what's causing it and there is no cure other than intervention...
But no matter what I LOVE MY SON😊

I to am a mother of an autistic child and my son is an amazing individual who I feel will do great things when he grows up even if he does not do it the conventional way. I still love him and I am his biggest cheerleader!!!!!

My child is not autistic but she is medically dependent and it is exhausting.

Just wanted to share that I took her to the doc on Friday to update her vaccines and as we were leaving, so was another mum and child. The child was obviously autistic and was emitting bursts of sounds. I took one look at the mum and recognized the look of sheer exhaustion in her eyes. My heart went out to her. Btw, toddler time is overrated ;)

^^ yup I agree that the toddler time is overrated...And I look at the kids with Down syndrome and other more serious kinds where kids are in the wheel chair...that just kills me and feel like I should count my blessings...

Wonder why this topic is here!! However good that you guys are spreading awareness.. ABA therapy is one of the most effective methods for Autism. And moreover please don't use Cure as this is not a disease...and its a developmental disability..so the word Cure is inappropriate. No children whether typically developing or one with Autism is manipulative.. Its the surroundings which teach them what they do!!
Also its not really good to call them Autistic.. they have autism that doesn't make them autistic... (its not their entire personality)...
P.S: I work with Children and Adults with Autism and other developmental disability

Great job... awareness is always good... just more update of facts...its now 1 in 88 children are diagnosed with Autism... They are just like any typically growing children with special needs that's all... If any one has questions about this feel free to PM me.. I will be glad to find answers!
