😃read the bold to read about the sisters,

MTV follows the spoiled teenagers around town as they plan their
overweening celebrations costing as much as $200,000. They gloat over how their parties will display their greatness, obsess over who can come (and more importantly, who cannot), whine, cry, and fight with their parents, and traipse through fancy auto dealerships trolling for their first cars. The show's producer, Nina Diaz, explained to the New York Times that ego trips and extravagance are required. "We're looking for the parties to be over the top, and we're looking for originality," she explained.

Still, Dr. Srinivasa Rao Kothapalli, a prominent cardiologist in Beaumont, Tex., is more than willing to relinquish his checkbook. His daughter Priya turned 16 earlier this month, and she is in the throes of planning a joint birthday-graduation party with her elder sister, Divya, 18. "If you can afford to have a grand celebration, then why not," said Dr. Kothapalli, who immigrated to the United States from India in the mid-1980's. "It's the American way. You work hard and you play hard."

Born with silver ladles in their mouths, his daughters have certainly mastered the latter. Their Bollywood-themed party for 500 guests will be held in the family's backyard — all 4 acres, behind the 10,000-square-foot house. The Format, their favorite band, will perform. And they will make their grand entrance on litters, during an elaborate procession led by elephants. The sisters, who plan to perform a choreographed routine at their to-do next month, are also taking dance lessons, and they've enlisted the help of a trainer.

"We both want to lose three pounds," said Priya, who received a Mercedes convertible and an assortment of diamond jewelry for her birthday. Her sister's graduation gift package included a Bentley, diamonds and two homes in India. 🤔

"I was really surprised," Divya said, "because I was only expecting a Bentley and one house." 😕

Just last month they gave a preparty where invitations to their coming event were handed out by body builders whom Priya ordered not to smile. "Assistants are not supposed to smile," she explained. 😆😆

Priya added, "It's pathetic when people suck up." Still, dealing with sycophantic classmates and a bit of teasing is a small price to pay for the spotlight. "We both love attention—that's one of our main motives for having the party," Divya said. "The more attention the better."

wow, my sweet sixteen is coming up in august, but i dont expect my parents to buy me a bentley. Maybe like a Mercedes, but a Bentley?!

The episode airs today (tuesday, 11th July) on MTV at 10:30 pm (atleast for all of you on the east coast, i'm not sure about the pacific time.

So would you call these girls spoiled or lucky, and do they deserve to have such a party. My philosophy is live and let live. 😃

Actually . i believe if you can spend, you should. I hate when I see these rich millionaire and they have hardly anything in the house. Will use bedsheet as curtains or bad couch etc. They feel proud to say that they live simple life.
TO me it is not simple life, it is blocking economy. If you can afford it, spend. let money rotate. By spending you are helping economy.
Yes if you cannot afford it then save for your family and kids first, then some portions to charity and then party.

i agree with swar ji..those who can afford to throw such lavish parties should be allowed to by all means...its their night to shine so why shouldnt they...but i dont know how many of you have seen that show but those teens go waaay overboard...or maybe it isnt that bad because they are all rich spoiled kids and it is probably common in their circle of friends..normal middle class families like mine and many of you cannot afford to throw such lavish parties because we just dont have that type of money...spending an unlimited amt of money is ok for people with money trees in their backyards (or their bank accounts 😆) but for an average middle class family, there is soo much more that money (if they can ever manage to arrange for that type of money) can be used for soo many usefull things that using it for a party is wasting it.

I hate girls who act like that. It's these kind of bad manners that give NRIs, such as myself, such a bad name.

Some of the youngsters on this show just go absoloutely bonkers over their sixteen birthday party. If they can celebrate their sixteen birthday bash in that way,i wonder what their wedding will be like.
If they've got the money, let them go bonkers! 😆

😆 Damn, she was sad because she only got one house 😆 . Maya tere kitne naam????? It's been the trend. If you are rich, you have to live up to your standard. We can't blame these girls..cuz they don't know anything beyond their father's wealth. They probably will get married to someone with equal wealth or more. Probably they will do charity show and spend their father or husband's money and think great about their nice deeds. It just makes me think if you have so much wealth why won't you spend it on greater things. If you have money, you should feel lucky that you can help so many people.
My husband and I are not wealthy, but I admire my husband for trying to help people out. He doesn't like to buy groceries or few other things from big markets...he would rather buy it from small papa mamma stores where they charge a little bit more. He believes Albertsons or other big names have too much money. Even you can buy few items for less, he prefers to pay few bucks extra to help small shop owners.
But again, it's your individual journey.

i dont know u guys, i think they r right we work hard so we can play harder. I am not rich tho, just FYI 😆 if u have that much money than why shudnt ur kids live in luxury and enjoy. i mean money is supposed to bring u luxury and comfort and relaxation and if having a crazy b-day party does that than why not. if u have money spend it.
