OS: APRIL FOOL.

Hey guys. So I wrote an OS. *applause* 😉
It's my Second OS. Completely random. 😛

APRIL FOOL?

"The best day of the year". I woke up with a huge smile on my face. 1^st April. Yes, people are actually scared of this day, but for me this is the most beautiful day because of all the lovely people around me who make it so very memorable for me every year.

"Happy birthday Khushi Kumari Gupta". I wished myself standing infront of the mirror, getting ready for school. Or should I say getting ready for all the celebrations cause' I am 18 today. The thought just made my smile even bigger, if it was possible.

I went down towards the kitchen. Amma preparing the breakfast as usual.

"Where's Dad, Amma?" I asked, not finding him at his usual place on the dining table.

"He went to Mumbai in the morning. He has an important meeting. He'll be back in 2 or 3 days I guess." Amma replied, without looking at me.

"But how can he go on my..." Amma didn't let me complete my sentence.

"Khushi, just finish your breakfast. You'll be late for school. I am having a very bad headache. I think I should go and sleep for a while." She said that in one go and left the kitchen.

What??? She doesn't remember my birthday. 'She's not well, Khushi', I thought. But still. And DAD!! How can he leave on my birthday, I don't freakin' care how important that meeting is. I left my breakfast at the table without even touching it. I knew I'll get a good big lecture from Amma when I get back, but I don't care. (Like I always don't)

I stepped inside the bus only to find Rhea (One of my best friends) sitting with that senior (I don't even know what her name is). What the hell, I thought. She didn't keep a seat for me. But, she always does. I gave her a stern look, to convey my emotions, but she, very efficiently, ignored me. I threw my bag at her and sat on the seat right next to them.

"Did you see the episode last night. Oh God, Damon just looked awesome. No?" Rhea asked 'the senior'.

"Duh, he always does, Rhea. He's like the most good looking being on the face of this earth." Came the reply.

Freakin' vampires. Why do people actually watch such shows. I mean, why? I, personally am not a vampire fan at all. Why should I be? Have all the humans died, that they have started making shows and movies on vampires, which, for a matter of fact, don't even exist. And whenever we have a discussion on that, the last thing I hear from Rhea and Aalia (My other best friend) is, "You are a nerd Khushi, you just go and have fun with your books. You won't understand." Obviously I won't, because I don't want to.

I waited for Rhea to end her oh-so-interesting discussion of the show and come and sit with me but I guess they both had to discuss every minute detail of the episode. I took my bag from Rhea and took my novel out and started reading that, throwing occasional glances at Rhea.

I stepped out of the bus and looked around to see Rhea. She was no where to be seen. Then I saw her walking way ahead of me with another bunch of girls, laughing her heart out. What the... doesn't matter. She'll pay for it.

I was totally engrossed in my novel that I didn't see where I was going. (Like most of the times) I bumped into someone and without even looking started shouting at the top of my voice.

"What the hell?? Can't you see where you are going? Devi Maiyya gave you eyes, she did naa? But I guess she forgot to give you a brain." I yelled while picking my novel up from the ground.

I looked at the 'blind' figure I bumped into and my eyes widened with... I don't know what.

There stood, Arnav. No, not only Arnav, Arnav Singh Raizada, in all his glory looking at me in shock. Those brown chocolaty eyes asking me to shut the hell up.

"I bumped into you?? Seriously? Miss Khushi Kumari Gupta, You were so busy in your freakin' novel that you didn't see what's coming in your way. And you are shouting at me and saying that it's 'my' mistake? You just can't be serious." He said. His voice getting louder and louder with each sentence.

I didn't even look back at him and ran away. I seriously, 'ran away'.

Arnav is my class fellow. He's totally different from other guys in the class and even the whole school. He's good looking, smart, sensible,... I can go on and on and on. I was the one who always topped in class tests. He came to Delhi only last year, and he is trying really hard to take my place. He out-did me in the last Maths test too. Well, everybody knows that. But one thing, that nobody knows is that I have a huge crush on him. I appear to be Miss Know-it-all in front of others, but one look from Arnav and I transform into a complete chicken.

Enough about him. Khushi stop thinking about him now. It's my birthday and I have other important' BIRTHDAY!! Is this what you call a birthday. Dad's not in the town, Mom's not well, Rhea is interested in freakin' vampires, I shouted at Arnav for no effin' reason and made a drama out of nothing, Aalia is' Oh well, where's Aalia. I looked around the class room and didn't find her. I saw Rhea coming.

"Hey, Khushi." Said Rhea.

"Don't hey me Rhea. Where the hell were you?" I said, completely mad at her.

"Hey, you know Damon'. Oh well, you wouldn't know. Forget it. I was just discussing something important with Tara and group." Rhea said putting her bag on the seat.

Oh well, I know what must be the important discussion, I thought.

"Don't you think you are forgetting something Rh..." I couldn't complete the sentence and saw Mr. Jha entering the class.

Physics class. Mr. Jha is our Physics professor. Such a repulsive personality he has. Makes issues out of nothing.

"So, before we begin our today's discussion. I would like you all to submit your assignments." He said while taking his book out.

Oh yes, the assignment. I opened my bag only to find my assignment missing. Devi Maiyya, where is it? I put it inside my bag at night I remember.
I searched my bag like a maniac. I saw Kritika coming towards our desk to take our assignments.

"Khushi, yours?" She said while taking Rhea's assignment.

"I.. It was here. I put it in my bag. It must be... " I said while searching every nook and corner of the bag.

"Sir, Khushi forgot to do the assignment." Kritika said it in a loud voice.

"What the..." I threw an 'unbelievable' g lance at her.

"Why Miss Gupta?" Mr. Jha looked at me.

"Sir, I.. I did the assignment. I put it in my bag but.. I... " I looked inside the bag again while standing up.

"Okay, so you're saying it just disappeared?" He said in his oh-so-tough voice.

"No, I think I mispla..."

"Get out of the class." He ordered.

"What?" I asked him in disbelief.

"Get out." He said very calmly.

"But Sir, I... "

"GET OUT, MISS GUPTA." He roared.

I was about to cry when Rhea held my hand and signaled me to go out before he makes a scene out of it.
I looked at him, and then at Rhea. I picked up my bag and started walking. I saw Arnav on my way out, looking at me with an intense expression, and got all the more embarrassed. What must he be thinking? I didn't do my assignment. But I did it. It just vanished. I went straight towards my locker. May be it's in there.

I opened it and found my locker full of peanuts. Ewww. I puked. I hate peanuts. I am allergic to them.
Who put these in here. He's going to pay for it. IS IT REALLY MY BIRTHDAY???

Next was the art class. I met Rhea in the library, all embarrassed.

"Hey come on Khushi. It happens. Don't spoil your mood." Rhea said, while making a puppy face.

I hugged her tight. "But I did the assignment Rhea."

"It must be somewhere in your room then. Submit it tomorrow. He'll understand. You are a good student, a nerd actually." Rhea said while laughing. "Now let's go, we'll be late. Aalia didn't come today. She has fever. I just read her application."

What?? Aalia bunked school, on MY birthday. Fever? Really? She should've come.

Somebody was really in a mood of playing pranks today and put a bucket full of water at the top of the door to the Art lab so that the next person who enters gets all drenched. And the next person was, yes you are right, ME!

I looked at everybody in disbelief. Did that actually happen? I heard people laughing at me. I looked around the room, everybody showing their molar to molar smile. Some people actually pointing and laughing at me. Devi Maiyya, this is so embarrassing.

My eyes fell on a lonely figure at the corner of the room. Arnav. He was smiling too. Why!! Devi Maiyya. Please end this torturous day, NOW.

Rhea completely ignored me during the recess. She took her lunch and met Lavanya and her bunch of annoying friends and sat with them and started discussing Elena's gown in the show. Don't they get bored discussing the same thing over and over again.

I was fuming with anger watching Rhea leaving me alone and sitting with that group. My temper was further lost when I saw Arnav and his bunch sitting with them too. Am I the only odd one out here? I thought.

I saw Lavanya getting all informal with Arnav. He's mine, I felt like shouting at the top of my voice. But then, the events of today made me sit quiet on my table. I was too embarrassed to even talk to any of my class fellows.

...

As soon as the last bell rang, I took my bag and went outside the class room alone because I knew Rhea must be busy with her discussions on the Vampires. She'll definitely repent that she forgot to wish me.

I stepped out of the gate and found Jiji and Jeeju waiting for me out side. I smiled at them and gave them both a tight hug.

"We thought why don't we pick you up today." Jeeju said, with his signature smile.

"Awww, thanks. You guys are the best."

I thought at least they care. But to my dismay, they didn't say a word on our way back home.
They took a relatively longer route to home on our way back. I thought about asking Jeeju but then I was too tired to even ask him that.

I got out form the car, and without saying a word got inside.

The house was unusually dark.

"Amma." I said. "Look, Jiji and Jeeju are here."

No reply. I went towards the lounge. I opened the door and BANG'

"SUUURRRPPPRRRIIISSSEEE"

I saw everybody standing there with a huge smile on their faces. Jiji hugged me from behind and said.
"So, how did you like the surprise my behnaaa."

"I love you guys." I hugged her back.

Rhea and Aalia came and hugged me first. Aalia bunked school to help mom arrange the party for me. I hugged them both tight and thanked Devi Maiyya for blessing me with these two.

I saw Dad standing there and his expressions explained everything to me. He had no meeting or anything, it was all a part of the plan.

All my class fellows were there. They apologized for everything at school that they did intentionally just to make my 'April Fool Birthday' a little more memorable.

"And Khushi, I submitted your assignment, don't worry." Said Rhea.

I looked at her in surprise.

"Errr, ummm. I took it out from your bag." Rhea said, giggling.

"What, I.. How could you? He threw me out of the class Rhea." I asked her in surprise.

"Oh, I explained him everything. He isn't that bad."

I couldn't believe what I just heard. Mr. Jha was also playing along. Wow. Is the world actually coming to an end?

"I'll just get a glass of water and I'll be right back. I badly need it." I said going towards the kitchen.

"Happy birthday Khushi." I heard a familiar voice as soon as I entered the kitchen.

I looked around and saw Arnav. Smiling.

"Oh. Hi. Thanks." Trembling, I was.

"This is for you." He handed me a small box.

"Oh, there's no need for that Arnav. You came to the party. That's enough. You don't have to get me anything." I said while he took my hand and put the box on it.

"How can I not get anything for you Khushi? It's your birthday. And I am really sorry for the peanuts in your locker. You know now, it was all pre-planned." He said, looking a bit embarrassed.

He was involved in the plan too. Sh*t. Aww. I mean. Wow.

"It's... It's okay Arnav. I mean, this surely turned out to be a memorable day. So, no hard feelings." I smiled.

"You know, I umm.. What I am trying to say is that ummm.. err.. I.." I saw or rather heard him stammer for the first time.

"What? Oh and I am sorry. I .. I bumped into you. I should've seen where I am going. You know when I am reading a novel, I just get so lost in it that I don't even see and realize what's happening around me and I always end up doing somethi..''

I couldn't complete my sentence when I felt something soft against my lips. It took time for my mind to register what was happening. He was kissing me. Arnav was... Oh well. I'll think about this later. My hands found their way in his hair while I responded to the kiss and he tightened his grip around my waist.

When we parted, I looked at him in surprise.

"What? Do I need to say it as well." He said, with that adorable smirk.

And do I need to say, that it was the Bestest Birthday ever.
