I have seen both threads criticizing gauri and commending gauri. I am not really sure where I stand, because while I understand the extreme emotional provocation gauri came under in that moment, when she realized what the puja was for... she should also have been sensitive to the fact that for a variety of reasons the singhs had decided to lie to badi masi as a DYING last wish.
Hard to say where I fall in that spectrum, though I am personally relieved that the dragging-ness of this particular story track was put to an end.
That being said, nobody has said anything about slime bag Jagat, and I want to really vent my frustration at him.
First of all, Jagat took the stand to marry Gauri without his family's permission or blessings. In such a situation, he should continue his stand... and should have told his family that he will not participate in this farce where he still has to pretend he is married to anandi. It is not right towards gauri, and also not right towards anandi.
Second of all, The moment the puja was fixed, he should have just left, himself giving the bahana of his exams or something. In any case, after gauri arrived, the ground was already laid that the dean was going to debar him from his exams... all he had to do was to be really firm that he could not stay any longer and had to go that very day. Since he is an expert in lying, he should have given a vague commitment that he would be back as soon as he sorted things out with the dean.
In any case, he is an expert in leaving, he left gauri with a note, when anandi had her 10th std. results and she was first in the state, he and she had that big blow-up in front of the family and he left under the cover of night ... since when has he actually bothered to stay?... and when has he cared about either family (his Mumbai one or his Jayetsar one) if it did not suit him? ...
He could have just left early in the morning leaving a note for badi masi apologizing but saying that he had to go and sort things out with the dean.
But no, he wanted to stay and go through the pooja. Why?
I dont blame the singhs or anandi for their desire to hide the truth from badi masi... but why did Jagat not take a stand?

Not justifying J's stand here but I want to say that Jagat has a right to his choice. He can chose to participate if he wants.

He currently wants to please his family members at any cost and usually J has never been too bothered by the absolute right or wrong of things. If he thinks this is what everyone seems to want to go along with - J will happily go along w/o a thought to G or J and only thinking about how DS will like his participation in doing a show for BM.

J is not doing anything out of character. He likes to keep himself most happy FIRST and after that, whoever is next to him at that time. Right now, he'll want to please DS and BM. When he goes to the city - he know he can make up to Gauri and cheer her up with some more chaat-pepsi. G too, has never shown enough spine to stand for anything she believes in. She too does only as she pleases - right or wrong be damned !

A understands J very well and knows his motivation for being a part of this show. A also is not at all keen about it, but is willing to put up with it as a laast wish sort of thing for BM. For A - this falls under kindness n generosity of spirit towards an elderly person who has always been good to her and has unknowingly asked for one last wish that is not very pleasant but not impossible to go thru.

G alone has a right to question J about his stand and loyalties towards her, but she too has no business coming her uninvited and interfering in their family drama within the confines of their home.

G has no business being here and staying on and making a scene about it and exposing all to BM.

Hope this explains J's reasons for his plan of action.
