ROOFTOP PRINCE
Yesterday in Wed-Thur timeslot started out three new shows MBC's The king 2 hearts starring Lee Seung Gi (My GF is a Gumiho) and Ha Ji Won (Secret Garden) which got the highest rating 16.2%, I'm yet to watch it though it stars my fav LSG but I'm not that interested its storyline is good but its very serious 😕... Next up is KBS's Equator Man starring Uhm Tae Woong it got a 7.7% rating and I'm not going to watch this 🥱... then finally SBS's Rooftop Prince it started out with a 9.8% in the second place it might stay that way because King's story is serious and LSG and HJW are too famous to boot...
Rooftop Prince is good stuff I liked it the best thing about the premiere it crammed so much story in 1 hour yet it didn't feel crammed 😆. So it stars Yoochun (Sungkyunkwan Scandal, Miss Ripley) and Han Ji Min (Padam Padam, Capital scandal, Cain and Abel), to say the truth I love this girl and I started watching because of her 😆 but I'm straight 😛... Another thing Yoochun is sooo much better here I'm not saying he was bad in his previous role but he just faded out in his first role when compared to the other two leads in Scandal but in miss ripley he was better but here he is a gem 😃... About the story its good there is every genre possible present court intrigue, murder, parallel identities, betrayal, time travel, and hilarity yeah no romance yet but it'll come...
Recap (SPOILER ALERT) don't read if going to watch
18th century joseon era... The show starts with a cat meowing on a rooftop (Hint:Attic Cat a korean drama 😆) whatever... I'm zooming in short, the crown prince Yi Gak (yoochun) finds his princess missing from the room and he is alarmed and 😲 she is floating in the pond DEAD... He is BROKEN (heart !!) but at the same time Yi Gak is superimposed on the dead body but in modern clothing 😕 you'll get to know later...
Now time skip to prince's childhood when he was asked what qualities he would like in his bride, and he said "PRETTY, BEAUTIFUL" bride is enough so that he would want to look at her everyday 😆 how shallow !!! and there are two sisters daughter of a high ranking minister 😉 of course on of them will get selected. To their shock, Dad declares that the daughter offered up for princess selection will be Bu-Yong, the younger sister 😲 Unni (sister in korean) gets crushed and is 😭... but nonetheless she agrees to prepare her sister...
Fast-forward to modern times (late 1980's), when the two girls meet again. In this lifetime they aren't blood-related but step sisters names Park Ha (younger) Se Na (older) , se na becomes a problem child soon shoplifting and other bad habits plague her and one day she leaves park ha in a truck and goes to do her work but when she comes back she contemplates leaving her there cuz she is asleep and she does that but when the truck starts moving park ha wakes up and sees her unni and shouts for her but she leaves nonetheless 😡 you _______ fill your fav slang ...
In the old era same resentment is creeping up and the Bu yong (younger) offers dried persimmons to her sis hwa yong(older) but she declines... hwa yong is pressing bu yong's skirt when she contemplates the hot iron with an unsettling deliberation 😲 but it is an accident which causes the iron to fly and at the same time bu yong trips and 😭 the iron brands bu yong's cheeks... so daddy dearest marries his elder daughter to the prince and now present time hwa yong is happy with the prince and bu yong is a shadow bridesmaid... in a half mask (Han Ji Min this is the real lead)... all three are taking a walk sisters and prince bu yong is a step behind them and feels sad at what could have been if that accident didn't happen... but the royal couple is happy and they both love each other then Yi Gak quotes a verse and expects a witty reply from the princess but alas her sis answers and prince is happy with sis in law's answer they keep throwing poetic verse at each other and its nice to see that both leads are intelligent ...
Skip to year 2010 in new york Tae Yong (Yoochun) in this lifetime is an artist and sees a girl selling fruit in the distance Park Ha now estranged from her family... Tae yong's cousin arrives from Korea and they Tae Mu (Lee Tae Sung) they go out for a drink where they again run into Park Ha and now Tae Mu suggest his brother to ask the girl out but sadly Tae Yong is no good in this game... Happy news for park ha she located her father in korea and is heading back... the cousins head out in tae yong's Yatch cuz yeah they are filthy rich 🥱 and there is birth secrets as usual 🥱 🥱 tae mu's father is illegitimate so even though he is the more capable business man his grandma prefers tae yong who wants to stay here in new york and be an artist... tae yong wants tae mu and uncle to inherit everything but that is not possible... tempers rise punches fly tae yong pushes his hyung (bro in korean) and tae mu punches back and tae yong goes over the rail into the water in the process hitting his head tae mu dashes to save him but at the last moment decides against it and starts wiping away the fingerprints and takes tae yong's phone and send it flying in the water and then jumps in the water and swims away ... he goes back to korea and guess who welcomes the backstabber another backstabber se na hmm and these evil people are made for each other (cue in a relationship) he says to his family that his bro disappeared and he never met him in new york 🤢... Park Ha goes back and finds that his dad is already dead, she is some days late and when se na sees her she cowers but oh ho park ha got a head injury she doesn't remembers the abandoning incident 😡
Back to old era the prince ordered an investigation for his dead wife but everyone rules it out as an accident even the girls father 😲... so naturally prince goes out to find a sleuthing team himself Song Man Bo (Lee Min Ho not the boys over flower one) is a very intelligent man and has solved cases but since he is illegitimate he cannot sit for civil service exam... oh man Lee played illegitimate in sun/moon also sigh!!
WOO YONG-SOOL (Jung Seok-won) is charged with the murder of a nobleman who killed his mother and defiled his sister and is about to be executed when prince saves him and makes him his main swordsman...
DO CHI-SAN (Choi Woo-shik) a womanizer who loves to collect top secrets and is efficient...
so thus the team is filled and they head out to investigate and they find that maybe the princess died because of dried persimmon, with poison sprinkled on top dun dun dun could it be Bu yong nah m sure about that... show don't make me eat my words
the team is out investigating when suddenly arrows fly and yong sool saves them but they are struck at a cliff so they try to jump over it and reach at the other side but alas they are bucked into the air and they reach the other side of the world that is 2012 from the 18th century...
Ans now Park ha has been in Korea for 2 years now she owns a small fish shop which she runs with her step mom and her sis is bitter as ever... after a long days work she goes to her rooftop home and finds 4 weirdly dresses guy in her room and she attacks them with a frying pan and the guys jump back in fear 👏
