OK...I have these two scenarios in my mind as to how Ahem will find out about Holi day and also how he is going to make it up to Gopi. Please bear with me. The second scene is going to be a little light hearted. I will post the second part later. Enjoy
Scene one...
Ahem was sitting in his room thinking hard as to where had the sweet smile from his wife's face had gone. He missed it. She smiled at him, but it just was not the same. There was something missing. He needed to find out what was missing. It had been 5 days now and he was getting restless without her smile. He needed her to be the same old Gopi. He missed her small ways of taking care of him and how she always made sure his clothes were ready. She still kept his clothes ready for him, but something in the way they are left or something was missing. He could not pin point the exact something, but he knew it was missing and he had somehow played a role in it. He needed to know why.
Gopi walks into the room and Ahem decides this is the time to talk and he needs to find out what is going on. So he says...
Gopi, I need to talk to you about what is wrong with you. You seem to be avoiding me. Gopi, did I do something wrong? If I did, I don't know what that is and I need you to tell me. Gopi, I miss your smiling face. I have tried to bring back the sparkle into your eyes and I am failing at every attempt. I know I did something to hurt you, but I don't know what. Please tell me.
Hearing all this Gopi had tears in her eyes and could not hold them back. She puts her fingers on her lips to try and prevent the cries from escaping, but it did not help. They came out. Ahem could not stand to see his wife so sad and so he went to her and stood in front of her debating if he should hold her or not. He did not want to scare her. But her cries kept getting more heart wrenching and it was all he could do to not cry himself. He put his hands on her shoulders and pulled her to him. She resisted at first, but he ignored her resistance and pulled her and held her close to him. He kissed the top of her head and said...
My God Gopi, what did I do that was so bad? I must have done it during Holi, since that is the only day I seem to have forgotten.
Gopi by now had her hands around his waist and was crying so hard, her whole body was shaking and Ahem held her tighter and caressed her back with one hand trying to smooth her and calm her down. Ahem was holding her and when he went to kiss her on her head, he had a sudden memory of his lips kissing her on her forehead. He looked puzzled and then he looked down at Gopi and said...
Gopi did I take undue advantage of you on Holi.
Gopi who was a little calm, said...Nahi Ahemji, its nothing like that. Whatever happened, it happened because I wanted it to.
Ahem was shocked. He said whatever happened? What do you mean by that? What happened Gopi? Gopi could not face him and so she turned around and said...
Ahemji, on Holi I saw that you wanted to play Holi with me, and I also wanted to color you. But circumstances prevented us. But then Devarji asked us all to stand together for a family photo. He took one picture and then he took one of Dhavalbhai and Kinjal ben. And after he took one of us. He made you put your hands around my shoulders for the first picture and he made you hold my hand for the second picture.
Gopi looked at Ahem to see his reaction to this much information. He looked shocked, but something was off. Was that a small smile on his lips. No that couldn't be it...I am sure. And so then she continued to tell him how he keep repeating about wanting to tell her something and the whole taking her by the hand and leading her to the mandir where he played Holi with her...and also when he tried to get close to her, she ran away only to be chased by him. She then told him about how the color got in his eyes and after she blew in his eyes, something changed in his eyes and when she tried to move he grabbed her and pulled her into his lap. The whole time Gopi was relaying the story, she kept watching Ahem and his reaction. By now he had stopped being shocked and was just looking at her the same way he looked at her on Holi. She then told him that was all that happened Ahemji. She was afraid to say anything further. She did not want to loose what little friendship she would have left with him after this knowledge was out. But Ahem said something that made her eyes burn with tears again. Ahem said...
You forgot to mention that I removed this pallu from your head before I colored you. And then I chased you upstairs and we fell on this bed and then one thing lead to another and we ended up making love. Am I right?
Gopi who was now full blown crying went to Ahemji and hugged him crying harder than before. And in her cry filled voice she said...
Ahemji, I thought you forgot about all that and I was the only one relishing in the after glow. I thought you did not want to remember and you were regretting our union. And that is why I was upset.
Ahem held Gopi close to him. He too had tears in his eyes by now. But he controlled them and prevented them from flowing out of his eyes. He had been having dreams and snippets of their love making, but he had just thought it was his fantasy and not reality. How wrong he was. He hugged her tighter and said
Gopi, I love you. I have loved you for a long time now. I just didn't know how to say it. I have put you thru so much pain, that I felt I didn't have any right to your love. Please understand this Gopi, our love making was not a mistake. I enjoyed it. It is just that something happened that made me loose my memory. But then I have a little memory that comes and goes every now and then. Gopi, I love you and I don't regret anything.
Saying that he put his finger under Gopi's chin and lifted it and leaned in for a kiss. He kissed her lips ever so gently and said,
This is the beginning of our life together. But first you have to promise me next time you tell me everything. No holding back anything.
Gopi was shyly looking down and nodded yes. Ahem then hugged her again and said...
I am glad we are finally together...I have been having back pains for a long time sleeping on the sofa...kam se kam I get to sleep on the bed...And of course the best part is I get to share that bed with you.
Gopi hit his arm in mock anger and smiled at him...and he smiled at her. He then lead Gopi to bed and sat her down and he sat next to her and started kissing her and loving her. This time the memories would be forever embedded in their minds. No regrets. No problems.
