The clock had barely passed 9, by now she had been at work for two hours. She sat waiting for the costumers to come. For the last two hours she had been cleaning up and getting the shop ready for the day. They had just opened for the day and now she sat sipping her tea waiting.. The empty aluminum plate lay there reminding her of the sweet delight she had moments ago..begging her to have some more..she looked at the pile of sweets in front of her, tempting her to have just one more bite..just one more to kill the urge of wanting to eat the whole pile.

Yes Kushi Kumari Gupta, part owner of Gupta Halwai, was a sweet addict'and has been one ever since she tasted her first ever jalebis nearly 17 years ago. The crunchiness of the jalebi mixed with the sweetness of the syrup'heaven on earth. She is the one that makes the sweets for the store, being a family business it was their only income. Even though she loved sweets, she had no passion for making them, unlike the rest of her family. Sweets are what the Guptas are known for, for ages but kushi somehow was more interested in fashion.

Kushi sighed cursing her fate, why can't she just go and tell her parents that she wants to study designing' wants to see the world..work with people..eat jalebis someone else made for a change!! But she was too weak, she had always been the outsider in her own family, amma and buaji never seem to like what she is doing, babuji and Payal were the only reasons as to why she was doing all of this. The working at the sweet shop after high school, not getting higher educations..sacrificing herself for her family. It's not that she was complaining but she would be so happy if amma and buaji would smile to her and give her a hug once in awhile.

She would never share her feeling with anyone. To the outside world she was a happy girl, spreading happiness all around her, smiling from ear to ear. She would have her hair gathered in a braid and brought forward over her left shoulder playing with it as she walked along wearing her colorful suits. She loved how they were vibrant and full of colors but would like to wear a different style if she ever got the chance.

She glanced at the clock in the little shop it has only been 20 mins since she opened but it seemed like forever, mostly because there was no one at the shop. Payal had gone to collage, she could study because they could afford to send one of them to school. Deciding that it was getting too depressing dwelling in her thoughts she decided to turn the radio on.

Cha cha cha chakne
Chakne mujhse phisal gaye..
Ka ka ka kitne
Hai kitno ki dum nikal gaye..

Kushi jumped up from her seat and started dancing full desi style. She had her back to the door and was rocking to the music not careing of who might see. Too drawn to her favorite song.

Sab mujhse poochte hain
Tu kaun desh se aayi (Naam)

She did the move from the song she had seen so many times. First moving to the right and then to the left, rocking her hips in the prosses singing along with the song.

Dancing to the music she had forgotten that the door to sthe shop was still open. She turned to grab a jalebi dancing to the music getting ready for the coming lines. When she grabbed a hold of a piece and was about to put it in her mouth she saw a beautiful lady maybe 8-9 years older smiling back at her with the most heart warming smile she had ever seen. Wearing a beautiful saree, with a mangal sutra on her neck and sindoor on her forhead. Kushi was too shocked to react and the song continued to play in the back.

After a few seconds Kushi came back to her senses and turned to turn the radio off. She was beyond embarresed getting caught in her crazy, dancing moment. She didn't even dare look at her in the eyes, she just stood there staring at the pile of jalebis in front of her debating with herself on what she should do next.

"You're an amazing dancer." The lady at the door said smiling.

"Thank you maam."

"Please call me Anjali."

"Ok Anjaliji."

"What's your name?"

"Ji' I'm Kushi, Kushi Kumari Gupta."

"Oh so you're the famous Kush, Mr Gupta is very proud of you. I would like to have a kilo of jalebis, I heard you are the master behind them."

"Ji, Anjaliji, I'm the one that makes them. Thank you for not embarrassing me more. You're really kind."

Anjali went home that morning really impressed of the girl, she was a really bubbly and nice. She would be the perfect choice for her Khadoos brother and maybe teach him how to loosen up. She liked that she was polite, she looked around 19, 4-5 years younger than Arnav so it'll be perfect. Anjali herself was around 19 when she got married and she has never regretted her decision.
