After today's episode, I decided not to watch this serial any more. It's the shock and revolt you get when you have been ardently loving the characters and watching the story regularly and your favourite character turns out to be a bitch. Contradictions and paradoxes are hard to digest in a supposedly low complexity drama. I am not able to understand the contradictions in 2 major characters.
Bhabho - This character hates her DIL and wishes from the bottom of her heart that her son is rid of her asap. She systematically disses her DIL and even summons her brother to collect the garbage from her house. But before that she wishes that her son actually slept with her?
Sandhya - This character (supposedly bubbly, only I have never seen her bubbly for more than 2 minutes max in any given episode) puts up with dismissal, condemnation and hatred from every person in the family and hangs on to that family like dear while her husband sings paeans of her 'self-respect'. Well, people with self respect stand up for themselves for a start. Today, she says she never looked at her husband in 'that' way. Well, what was the reason she was trying to stay in that family? So she could see a reformed brother in her husband? When there is no love for her husband, what the bloody point is in her staying in that house when she is so highly educated and she could fend for herself.
Well, those 2 were my biggest gripes. Suraj's character is the only character that I see some sense in. Not sure when this will slip into contradictions again. My biggest complaint though is Sandhya's expressions that get oft boring. And for God's sake, why is she so asexual? Having a serious ambition in life doesn't necessarily have to be associated with being a total spore? Well, the uneducated lot over there like Meena understand that sex is not a sin? There has to be love and all that but then if that's not there, why the hell is she staying there? Please don't tell me she has no mind on it in the middle of all the emotional drama. That could have served as a stress buster and would have strengthened the bond with her husband.
Finally I understand serials need to run for long but anything that just gets dragged on and on loses the fizz. For a hopeful like me, today's episode is a total no-no and I feel this is now best left not watched. Sorry other fans. I was once a big fan but not any more.
