Khushi washed her face with rose water to wash away the disgusting touch of Shyam. Arnav found Khushi standing alone, not with Shyam. Therefore, he got a slight relief that she probably does not like Shyam. Today, she took the step to hold Arnav's hand; this symbolized that she needs his support and he stayed there which meant that he will certainly support her in future. Then when she expressed her feelings, Arnav got the glimpse of her innocence and became emotional. This emotional expression relates to a feeling of regression. I guess Arnav realized that Khushi is innocent and loves him NOT Shyam after she confessed and Khushi also realized how much Arnav loves and cares for her.
