rich folks speak mostly English?

Wear mostly western-type clothes?

and hardly ever believe in the indian customs, manners... a lot of timse they just seem to lack 'class', as they treat their servants horribly and speak contemptuously to poorer people... and I am sure this might not be an accurate portrayal of upper middle class Indians Not all mind you, but in a lot of them, this seem to be a trend. Can someone please clarify, is this a norm in India? I know thta ther eis a growing middle class

In India there are all types of rich people highly anglicized families who may even but a typical British family to shame ,because historically it had Britishers ruling for nearly 100 years and there are highly religious families like the RP family and also some who have a combination of customs both western and Indian, so dont go by only Indian soaps they take some typical setups . I know of very rich and educated families who follow all Indian traditions but when they deal with outsiders they again follow western customs.

Please do not put up a set of country's people and raise these kind of questions, its hurtful... All kinds of people are there in every country, BAD RICH PEOPLE and GOOD RICH PEOPLE...

Its common sense to see that all this extreme things are shown in a daily soap to simply move the story and show the female protagonist to be very strong and pure, otherwise the kind of families which are shown in the soaps do not exist...

No lady is so forgiving that they forgive the people who tried to kill them so easily, or people who are completely blind to the happenings which are right in front of them, they are just extremes which are required for the story to be able to pulled forth.

Please don't use Indian soaps as a reference for your understanding as to how Indian Rich Families are. Just like in any part of the world, RICH people in India vary in their attitude and behaviour depending upon their thinking. Some may be good, some bad. Whatever is shown in Soaps is just to SPICE up the show and nothing much.

In this context, both Purohit Family and Bharadwaj Family are Rich...the difference being that the former is settled in Mathura while the latter one comes from a BIG city like Mumbai. So you see the difference is pointed out here itself. Basically Bharadwaj Family or any other family in other shows is portrayed in the manner u said, to bring out the difference. In short this adds some spice, variety and nothing more. Reality shall be much different that what is shown in TV soaps.

There all kinds of people in India,I"ve lived in India whole My life and belong to a very affulent family but havent came across any family like they show in tv serials,

Our Hindi soaps leaves very bad impressions most of the time away from the reality , Specially the woman folks are , either crying all the time or totally vindictive..There is grey color also ..Yes in metro cities most of the youngsters are going towards western ways , not because of Hindi soaps which hardly anyone of them watch ...
