Saiyaara Male lead is overrated!!!
I see it differently and will have to disagree. Sorry. Point # 1. The effect of him telling GH the truth is non existent on the surface. But that is the seed, that was planted, which makes Kushi stop and listen to him everytime when he is talking to her. That is the seed, which makes Kushi thinks he is capable of change, and keep thinking that after the news he will be a father. The CVs have not spelled it out, but I have a feeling, this will play an important role. He went and confessed to to GH and asked for apologies. His conscience in his mind is clear. No one in GH knows what he has done after that. Only people who knows is Kushi (manhandling during sangeet, terrace incident). ASR knows only what he chose to see and hear. So Kushi, still getting in the car with him, stopping and listening to his nonsense, all of that is because of the fact the seed he planted on that day.
stafhtad.. as you said, two brilliant strokes by Shyam which changed the course of the story!1. Telling GH the truth all by himself2. Making ASR believe that khushi is part of his play.As of now, I am not sure #1 has any impact. If it was to bling the GH, it very well did not work. That decision did not change their opinion of him and definitely did not prevent them from trying to tell the truth to Raizadas. As of now, It had little impact on the story unless CVs have kept that for future. Only thing that changed the story line is Anjali-Khushi interaction and the whole mangalsutra broke stuff. At the very best, he has succeeded in seeding an iota of respect in GH mind for confessing the crime all by himself. I am not sure respect is the correct word.Second point #2, It is not his mastermind who planned it. It so happened by the stoke of DM. ASR was already under the impression that khushi is the culprit. He voiced his opinion and Shyam did not let go the opportunity. He confirmed it, he never planned it that way. Because he was not sure how much ASR overheard him. He was indeed successful in adding fuel to the already burning fire called ASR. But the fire was not created by him.If you see the interaction with Buaji and Shyam during the Sangeet practice, he never had the feeling of guilt or awareness of practicality of the current situation. How silly of him to think that if Anjali dies, khushi will get married to him!. So he come across as a psychopath who is hell bent on getting what he want. But not a mastermind.
Undelined above, i couldn't agree more. You nailed it.Originally posted by: ipkkndfan_29
Sudha ...this was a very nice analysis 👏👏
I completely agree with what you have said about Shyam being much more brilliant at critical points of time ... this is how he had been able to dupe the entire Gupta family and is still holding the Raizada family hostage to his sugary sweet facade of goodness & righteousness. Unfortunately the opposite is true in case of Arnav whose brain seems to take flight on all important points of time (probably cowering away from his famous gussa 😆😆) so much so that he has caused a huge damage to a relationship which had become as important to him as the much coveted relation he holds with his sister.
I want to write about another point mentioned in your post...his telling the truth to the Guptas before Khushi could... I am not sure if there was anyone who did not notice it but that scene had a huge impact on me when I had watched... To me it portrayed not only the fact that he was a brilliant player when it comes to manipulating people & situations in his favor but also the fact that his cunningness and his GALL to go to any extent to hide this trait of his had absolutely NO limits. It was a brilliant move by him to save the situation and if possible to redeem himself in Khushi's eyes. Thank the CV Gods above, that the Gupta's did not fall for it.
The above also highlights the most striking difference between Arnav & Shyam ... while Shyam has always been multi-faceted in his evilness but still manages to show himself off in good light; but Arnav while also having multi-faceted traits still does not hide himself behind a persona of goodness or flattery cum buttery facade and shows himself as ruthless & arrogant which in turn shows him in a grey light.
